OMG!!! College interview!!! Help me!

So i just checked my email and some lady has contacted me for an interview for a prestigious college. I'm feeling really nervous now because this is for a reach school and its my first interview! I have a week or two before I have it, :( but I'm trying not to psyche myself out. Any advice is appreciated!

There’s a sticky thread at the top of this forum and literally hundreds of other threads that ask the same question, use the Search function.

Bottom line, if it is an alumni interview it has relatively little impact on the decision unless you’re at either extreme ends of the spectrum. It’s informational for you, have fun.

I could have written your exact post last week. I’m generally socially awkward, didn’t request any interviews, and yet still got the call from my biggest reach school.

There’s really nothing to be worried about. The second she introduced herself, the whole thing was really casual. Go over some common questions beforehand like “Why are you interested in this school” or “What do you do in your free time” and you’ll be fine. Unless you present yourself in a way that’s clearly rude, arrogant, sloppy, or completely clueless, you’ll be fine. Good luck!

I agree with rebeccar, the same thing happened for me. My only interviews so far were for reach schools, and although I was nervous, they went pretty well. Also, in addition to checking out the thread stickied at the top of the forum, I would look at [College Interview Questions - Be Prepared For These Common College Interview Questions](College Interview Questions You Should Master) it helped me to prepare for my interviews :)

Just be yourself, don’t say anything that is too crazy, and try to relax. The interviewer knows what emotions you are going through so they aren’t there to freak you out.
