Your help, comments/thoughts are appreciated. I was also wondering whether I have a better shot of getting in as a Biology major or a Biology & Society major. Like them both, am planning for med school so the major I actually pursue won't impact me much as I will be taking tons of science courses anyway.

I’m not sure about which major has a higher acceptance rate, but I think you will get into CALS. The only thing going against you is that your HS GPA is pretty low, and because you’re a sophomore transfer, it will be given significant weight.

Thanks transfers, I know the H.S gpa really kills me but I’ll hope for the best…!

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what is CALS?

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Oh and everyone…I realize I didn’t mention this anywhere but I am applying for CALS within Cornell…lol

yea at first I was wondering if CALS was a college or something, LOL!

I think that you have a really good shot! Just make sure you show that your a good fit for CALS in your essay, and I think your pretty set. Are you applying anywhere else?

thanks a lot guys, will keep that in mind when I apply. Also do you know if these decisions are on a rolling basis? As in, lets say I submit my app in January, does this mean that I will find out whether I got in maybe mid-late march? I was wondering because from previous years’ thread, I see that people got their decision around like March 24th…that seems ridiculously soon!

I am not sure as to where else I’d apply…I guess I’ll give Penn a shot since I’ve always loved it as well, but I seem to have the best chance at CALS so if I don’t get in to Penn or CALS ill stay and apply as a junior spring transfer to CALS again.
