Congrats! May I ask why you decided to transfer from FSU to UF? I am currently contemplating between UF Honors and FSU Honors, and would like to get some input on why you chose UF.

FSU is a wonderful university, beautiful campus and people, it's just what I want to do specifically UF has the edge in that aspect. I like FSU a lot, and so glad chose over UCF USF....I got accepted...but I don't know if I even want to transfer now, I feel itll be really hard and that Ill regret it if I leave FSU biig time for some reason, but I have some time to decide.

I hope you get in too, I honestly thought I was going to get denied straight up again. But my extracurriculars and my letter of intent was amazing...if they read it. My friend from UCF who is also Bio found out but got denied with a 3.83 :/. I heard lots of kids from UCF apply to UF as transfer?

Wait.... You got in with a 3.65 but your friend got denied with a 3.83? And both of you coming from a university? Impossible. UF admissions are based solely on GPA.

^That's not true, UF said just because you meet requirements that does not mean you are guarenteed, and this applies to freshman and transfers! UF look at transfers and see what they do outside of classes just as well. You never know why the kid with the 3.8 got denied.

Fact of the matter is he didn't get in and I did, and how do you know they base on numbers? I was surprised I got in like I said, lady from CLAS said Bio is an over enrolled major and CC people with AA's always get priority.

^ Did your friend meet all his college requirements? Also, I believe an admission representative should tell me themselves if I'm wrong, it's just crazy to think a kid with a 3.6 will not be able to get in over a kid with a 3.8, this is a big university people, they will admit who they want. But if they base it solely on the gpas, then maybe your friend did not meet a requirement? I don't know, but he/she can call UF and see why.

tebow, I know that it is obvious, I read the website stats too. I was just writing about when someone was suprised at both biology majors decisions. I was talking about probably not meeting "course requirements" not the "2.0/3.0 requirement like you were trying to inform someone that already knew". But do you or anyone else really think UF admits solely on gpas)? If so, I would like to read the info on the website, preferrably transfers with every major, Example; here is Accounting
[quote]
It is unlikely that all students who meet the minimum standards will be admitted. Admission is selective and subject to enrollment capacity. A Fisher School of Accounting faculty committee is responsible for admission decisions, which are NOT based solely on GPA.

That is a good question, I will have to ask him that, they were very stringent when it came to doing well in the Bio pre-req specific classes, that is nothing less than a B in calc,bio1&2,chem 1&2.

^No one is talking about freshman admits, in my last post you can see I am focusing on transfers, and trying to get the facts from UF website. However, suprisingly or not, I guess everyone gets a chance for UF (high or low stats)-and that is great. But can you provide a link from UF about transfers are "evaluated on gpa's only"? This is important information. The links I found is saying either the opposite or nothing about that at all.

yankee boy, you should ask him. I think UF reps will tell one where he/she has fell short in the admission decision.

I did, he did get higher than a B on the above mentioned courses and applied the same time, me and him basically did our applications at the same time. teb0w it seems like you keep downplaying my gpa, its a mere 3.65* btw don't get it twisted, and probably looks better coming from the other florida flagship university versus some 3.9 CC gpa for my major. Anyways, I hope the other truly deserving transfer applicants get accepted!

lol @ refering to ucf as "flagship". don't ever say that again. i once went to ucf, the classes are NOT impressive.

and nothing against you at all, i just know several people who applied last year with a gpa similar to yours and they were denied... that's all.

teb0w, your comment is beyond what I would consider pompous. UCF is definitely considered a flagship school in the state of Florida. They receive more applicants from south Florida than FSU and receive a large number of students who have been accepted to UF. University of Florida is the not end all be all school, I would even go to lengths and say University of Miami has a superior student body compared to UF.

To respond to your comment that classes at UCF are "not impressive", classes at UF do not differ much. If I knew your major it would be much more helpful to see where any of your insight is coming from, humanities I will assume for arguments sake? If so I cannot comment much about those classes but as far as any science or math class the classes almost parallel each other. My Calc class at UCF has gone much further than Calculus taught at UF, introductory topics such as dish and washer method were not touched upon. As a matter a fact Calc I at UF covers up until the beginning of Chapter 5 while at UCF material through the end of chapter 6 is covered. Not much a difference but I must say Calc I at UF is still far from impressive. Chem 2045 are parallel courses as both universities, I would even add UF Physics I class is incredibly remedial. Not to mention UF is plagued by many other problems 300 kids in a Calculus class, which is horrendous.

I have many friends at UF and I think overall it is a decent school; the best value for most Florida students. Please do not think I am a bitter UF reject, I did not apply to UF but would have been a well qualified applicant (1380/1600 SAT score, rigorous course load, ect.). But overall on a national scale UF is a mediocre school, with a reasonably intelligent and down to earth student body, but yet they still have some students who got in by the skin of their teeth feel theyre entitled to be a part of this so called social hierarchy referred to as "Gator Nation".
