Omg, I missed three weeks of classes.

So, I had a medical thing and had to return home for surgery. I was gone for four weeks, one of those weeks was a break and all in all I missed three weeks of class.

Has anyone else here been away from college for extended periods of time?

This happened last semester, so it's all been resolved, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

yes i did, last semester. i kept goign to the ER every weekend, each time with a new symptom. initially one of my doctor's told me to take some meds he prescribed and to stay home for one week. that didn't help though. kept going back to the ER each weekend. finally a doctor took me in. very nice guy who looked out for me. it took about a week and a half (weekends included) but i was finally able to go back to school. All in all I had missed like 12 school days I think which is a lot in a semester. It was a bit tough catching up in Accounting but I managed. I spoke to all my professors before hand so they all knew what was going on. Although one professor was close to failing me if I had missed one more class. That never happened though because ironically she herself had some surgery and missed two classes which made her change her mind and disregard my absences. I ended dropping one class which was US History, but that was more because the class just bored the hell out of me. But I had a medical excuse to drop it without getting penalized. So I continued the semester taking 4 classes instead of the 5 I started with and got a 3.4. Wasn't too bad overall. I could have done even better had I put a lot more effort into those classes (I was basically out of it most semester).

Yes, I had to take a leave of absence from school for the last month of last semester. I worked with my class dean to get everything straightened out. I have until mid semester to finish all of my exams and I am almost all caught up. My teachers were all understanding and glad to help me out. My class dean is also an amazing woman and I stop by every couple of weeks in order to tell her how I am doing.
