omg! i need help!

so far i bought a princeton review 11 practice and a collegeboard blue book for practice. i do "okay" on the practice test from princeton but do worse on the BB.
(CRITICAL READING) sometimes i cant even understand what the passage is talking about! i always dont get the meaning of the passage, especially if the passage is related to social studies,or history...i do well if that is a science passage or story.but i do really really bad if the passage is related to SS or History. Therefore, what kinds of book can i read to improve my skills on reading the social studies passage?

reading pretty much anything will help, read a lot of novels like the great gatsby, their eyes were watching god, scarlet letter, etc.

what grade are u in

im a sophomore, but im also an international student

Okay, you have trouble with social studies, history, and literature? The way to get better is to read more of that stuff (torture, huh?). You need to get used to it. You'll be doing tons of it in college. So pick up The New York Times or the New Yorker or anything that has social studies type passages, and you'll get better at it, slowly. Don't read a history textbook, though.
