People... only 50 days are left to submit CA essay and I am getting really tense! (biting my nails)

I have been thinking a lot and postponing the dreaded essay since the last few months, but its now time to face it... only 50 days are left, I have to study for SAT (giving in Dec), got exams in first week of Jan, got the whole year's course work to study, and I have no idea where I am going....

At my D's school, the college essay is a non-graded project done in their English class at the beginning of senior year. The teachers give an outline and the essay goes back and forth with the teacher writing comments, etc.

It really is a good thing because it jumpstarts the kids to get going.

You really should start working on your essay because if you wait until the last minute, it will be hastily done and may look like it. Write a first draft, put it aside for a few days and keep going back to it, fine tuning it.

I'm applying to the UCs. I have my 600-word essay complete but haven't even started on my short answers. And the only reason I have one essay complete is because it was a school assignment. Good luck, Huzefa...know that you are not alone in your procrastination. Unfortunately I only have 21 days :(

Don't worry, essays take time, though granted, you should obviously not wait till last minute, though I remember I managed to crank out my essay with about 20 days to the deadline. It's really a matter of time before you get inspiration, and then the wait will be worth it, just hope the inspiration comes before the deadline.

Write an (or some) essay(s) without inspiration as a back-up. Once you get inspired write and revise another one and send it in. If you don't, send the other one.

No offense....I'm not a senior and I'm certainly not looking to cause trouble. But I think the best thing to do would be to get off this site and start writing. Instead of talking about your problem, confront it. But it is definitely easier to criticize others than to do so to yourself. Best of luck to you Huzefa

50 days is like..an eternity. I wrote my 2 essays for ED the weekend before they were due. I think it just depends on the kind of person you are. Some people like to spend a lot of time on things, some work best under pressure.

Me too! And if I spend too much time an essay, then I sort of..lose my voice in it. If I write it quickly then I really say what I'm trying to say.
