~2.3 academic hs gpa (3.0 when you factor in gym, chior, etc)
no hs EC's outside sports

3.92 Umich GPA
35 act retake this year (30 when I took it early jr year)
800x3 Sat subjects
published in widely known scholarly philosophy journals
no real EC's (worked nearly full time for awhile), but I told them I might walk on to one of their varsity teams if they need me (I can compete in a few sports at that level).

ClaySoul, I'm already thinking of transferring to a school like Brown or UPenn maybe, that is, once I get rejected when I apply next year. :(

Do you mind supplying your stats? How much does the high school record count? I know nothing about transferring, heh. Sorry to be such a pain in the ass.

haha congrats to all those accepted brown'08 transfers! ^^ I am new..well kind of..i've been lurking around for a while so I am actually familiar with some of you. heh. i love brown & i applied this year as a freshman but..alas, :-( i got rejected. so i have been hanging around the brown transfer board & finally decided to just register & start talking to some of you fine people. maybe y'all can help me out a bit? ;-) hehe but anyway - congrats again to: claysoul, flipflopgroove (i feel like i know you two..><;; i read a lot of your posts on finaid...i swear i'm not a stalker ^_^;; ) & Decisions2Make & Copper45. Btw Copper, I am from ATL, a couple of my friends headed to Emory though it wasn't for me. I am soo glad that my first post was not a whiny "help me get into brown '09" but a "yay! it can be done" post! :-)

congrats. Brown is a great school. I heard brown is more discussion oriented than rigourous competitive - students love it there. You are going to have so much fun.

Unless, your an engineering kid who plays sports and is in the dance club who wants nothing more than competition in life - in that case, go to cornell or MIT or cooper union
- like me

blaaaaaargh i am SO PSYCHED! i'm past my doubting stage, i am totally headed to Brown next year...except I forgot to do that stupid extra essay, argh! I'd best get on that, haha...has anyone received a course catalogue, or anything else, for that matter..?

essence - haha, thanks! yes it can be done! I was in your position last year...well, I was rejected after an ED deferral, yuck (did you apply RD?)! if you love Brown and manage to retain that love next year (believe me, it's easy), go for it! if you have any questions during the process, i would be very willing to help. furthermore, your faces indicate that you are familiar with anime/manga, which is awesome. ^.^ Annnyway, where are you headed in the mean time?

yay! it is awesome that you have officially decided!! that is so happifying.^^ oh hmm yeah i did apply RD this year (wish i had known better and done ED though, whether or not that would've made a difference). yeah i am really trying to head into freshman year not thinking "i don't want to be here" but i have a really good feeling that unless something drastic happens, i will be wanting that transfer app. in a couple of months. :-D In the mean time, i will be a starting freshman at penn state (huuuge school ^^;; ) and hoping that the transition is a good one.

Btw I have heard, rather read, that some people think that the difficulty of courses is really important for a soph. transfer? =/ Would you mind telling me what kind of difficulty your classes were? I have selected my classes for this year & i don't know how "hard" they are. pah.

Clay, what are your stats? Does Brown require transfer applicants to submit their high school transcripts? I didn't do well in high school but I worked hard and now have straight A's at Bard College.
