I'm going to be suspended for one day because I forgot to hand in a paper signed by all my teachers. (I was late) I arrived at 6th period and all my teachers signed it except 9th.. I forgot because he was checking over my project and then the bell rang so I just got my bags and left .. I feel so sad.. wow.. will colleges look at that suspension and rethink their decisions? Is there a way for me to tell my guidance couselor to put down, it was because I failed to hand in a signed sheet? I have pretty good grades so will this seriously change my application?

Please answer right now.. I feel so depressed.. BLAH

Wow, what a stupid reason to suspend someone! Why'd you need a paper turned in that urgently?

But really, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just have your guidance counselor call and explain the situation to your schools... I doubt that they'll be that worried. In general, they only care when there's semi-criminal issues, or academic dishonesty, or something of that nature. Forgetting a paper happens to everyone.

Yeah, I think's a really harsh punishment as well. I know someone who was given the same punishment for ripping a piece of clothing (confederate flag, I think) off someone's shirt.... I only forgot to hand in a paper at the end of the day.. and you know I was really worried about my project and my teacher took 14 minutes to revise it, when she was done the bell rang and she said it was pretty solid... so I was so happy that I completely forgot.. but thanks guys for your opinions

It is a stupid reason for suspension. In my school, you get suspended if you don't bring in an absent card the day after you were absent, or if you don't go to detention.

How should I make the case to my principal tomorrow? Should I explain the situation, how I was getting my project reviewed then the bell rang. Also that I could get the teacher to wrote a note explaining he did indeed saw me? Your help would be so appreciated guys... please look at it from my point of view and you guys know that it sucks to be in my position. Thanks.

You should just tell your principal that this suspension would be potentially damaging to your college applications and that this was an honest mistake.

Personally, I think this rule is extremely strict. If we had to get papers for being late in my school, 95% of the school would have suspension everyday. Maybe your school is very prestigious/strict and that is the cause.

WOW!!!! that is a stupid reason for suspension. I remember in elementary school I got suspnded for gettin into a fight with this kid and I got suspended. That makes sense. But a year later I almost got suspended for calling the same kid "Brainless" They sent a note home to my parents too. Schools suspend ppl for the stupidest and randomest things.

The reason they do that is to prevent people from like cutting school I think, to prove they were in class for the last classes. But I was I just forgot to hand in a freaking piece of paper.

Should I get my mom to call in and like talk to the principal? Not like be a complete bith but like try to convince him.

Nope lol.. my school employs a 3-7 program.. I can't go to school on normal hours, but will have to from 3 - 7.. My school = horrible..Plus I also miss school work which will make me behind in all my classes.

If you missed a day of school, you get two days to get a note from your parent and if you don't, you just get an after school detention 8-O (thats suppose to be a face...) but in my situation I might get a suspension..

At my school, if you get an unexcused absence, then you get a Wednesday school for each class you miss (basically an after school detention from like 3 to 5 on Wednesday).

one of my best friends got suspended for about a month for throwing a single black cat firework into the bonfire sophomore year. he wouldve gotten the same punishment had he kidnapped someone.
