I have a feeling its still harder to get rid of Dave Brandon than most might think. Since DB’s term as AD…

Michigan men’s gymnastics team won 3 national championships.
Women’s rowing were Big 10 champs.
Men’s basketball went to the finals, and earned Elite 8(almost Final 4).
Womens softball and tennis BOTH are 5 consecutive Big 10 champs EACH.
Men’s Swim and dive team have 4 consecutive Big 10 titles

The whole Brendan Gibbons rape case fiasco definitely get him in the bag though

^^^^Football drives the whole athletic department. The other championships are drivel, except possibly basketball, in comparison. The fact is that Michigan football is in a death spiral and someone has to be held accountable. Hoke was DB’s man and nothing is going to change the fact that he made a horrendous hire. Not to mention all of the other things that he has done that have p*ssed off the Michigan faithful.

ForeverAlone, Beilein was hired in 2007, three years before Dave Brandon was made AD. The basketball program’s success cannot be attributed to him. Since 2010, the Hockey and Football programs have not made much progress, and along with Basketball, are the main sports as far as the alums are concerned. Doing well in gymnastics, softball and swimming is great, but hardly matters to the majority of alums. Michigan has often excelled in those sports anyway. That is not to say that getting rid of DB is going to be easy…or cheap. However, I think his time is up and it is time to move on to another AD.

He kind of has to, publicly. You can’t publicly complain about your boss and colleagues. That wouldn’t fly in any industry/field of employment.

Beilein is a class act all the way. He would never say anything negative about anyone in the program. Hoke is a good guy too, just a lousy head coach.

ForeverAlone, Beilein cannot bash his own boss. And as rjk says, the guy is a gentleman. I cannot imagine him badmouthing anybody. As far as character goes, Beilein (and Hoke) are great representatives of the University. Beielin has managed to turn Michigan’s BBall program around though…Hoke obviously hasn’t been able to do the same for the Football program.

I am hoping they continue to get worse, a lot worse!..thinking it will keep the applications down and improve my daughter’s chance of getting in.

LOL! adkdad, Michigan has not been good at Football since 2009. Since them the applicant pool has gone from under 30,000 to over 50,000. I do not think football significantly alters things. Of course, winning a NC could lead to a major jump in applicant numbers, but a mediocre season will not reduce the number of applicants.

Gardner gets to heal for two weeks before we make our way down to East Lansing. If Hoke is to save his job, we must win that game. I think it is highly unlikely that we will. MSU is such a well-oiled machine these days. But one never knows.

The penn state game felt more like watching a chess match than a football game. Most points scored were from field goals and a safety. Michigan was trying to compensate for the fact that Gardner could barely walk. Gardner had another interception and some more close calls. I was surprised that penn state got the offside call on the onside kick. That was questionable. I thought they had pulled off that onside kick.

I’m glad Mich won,but it was a tiresome game to watch. Michigan will not always be able to win like that. Lots of improvement is needed before Michigan State…
