Congrats! Btw, could you guys post your "stats" just to see what kind of applicants you are? (of course, we wouldnt be able to read your essays though..)

awesome job. start celebrating!!

Ok here go my humble stats,

Go to a pretty good public highschool in Wisconsin that sends about 8 or 9 kids a year to top 10-15 schools

GPA: 4.0 UW

Class Rank: 1 of 524

SAT: M 780 CR 760 W 760 2300

SAT II: Math II 800
Spanish 800
Physics 760

National Merit Semifinalist (will most likely advance to finalist with 4.0 and 2300)

AP
Calculus AB 5
Spanish 5
Calculus BC 5

I have taken the most rigorous course load offered at my high school. In addition I have taken several classes at UW-Madison.

Classes Taken at UW-Madison

Genetics: A
Math 276: A+
Math 375: A+
Stat 309: A+
Math 376: In Progress
Stat 310: In Progress

The Math 276-375-376 is an Honors calculus sequence that cover Calc II and then moves on to multivariable calculus, linear algebra and differential equations. This math sequence is VERY DEMANDING and completely PROOF BASED. The Stat 309-310 is a sequence for Math and Stat majors that is fairly demanding and rigorous.

I expect to get a great recommendation from my Math professor at the university since I got 100, 96, 97, 98, 99 on his exams and have aced all the homeworks (which are pretty hard!)

My other recs are from an english teacher, will be very good, she loves me. And from my Calc BC teacher from highschool, I was clearly the top student in the course and expect an excellent rec (my average test score second semester was 99). I expect my counselor rec to be excellent as she thinks I am probably the top student in the grade.

I am the captain of a very competitive regional level soccer team that travels out of state almost every weekend in the spring and trains 3-4 times a week.

I also play the violin and am an avid sailor/windsurfer (I am an instructor in the summer months)

I also tutor high school students about 4 hrs/week.

I was selected for and participated in a summer research internship this summer.

does URM status have any effect? my friend's friend also got one and he's argentinian if thats a word...

Well, I'm not a URM. So while being a URM may have somewhat of an effect, it's obviously not the deciding factor.

wow CONGRATS!

SO JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha, I'm the argentinian friend of joon's!

Congrats to you guys.
I'm a little sad and disappointed in myself though as I am very anxious for the admissions decision. Does anyone know if they send it all out at once or periodically, say over a few days or a week. I think last year someone posted a late likely letter reception.

Wow... no wonder you got a likely letter! It'd be ridiculus if you hadn't been accepted! I mean, a 4.0 at UW-Madison means you're an insanely strong applicant!

WAHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!... i got the same letter today... of course I had to read it like a bajillion times to understand it cuz the first reading put me in a coma, but... WAHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! see ya in admit weekend :D la la-la la-laaaaa....

totally agree with kowloon...it would have needed some kind of miracle for lmanuelli to not get in.

hahah joon told me. congrats! your stats are amazing btw

Checked the mailbox again today...no luck. How disheartening. And I think the period has passed for Stanford to send them out. I think all the other colleges that do likely letters send them out mid-Feb, but Stanford seems to do it pretty early. If anyone else gets one from Stanford please post the date.
Ah well, guess I'll have to wait for the other colleges. Out of the 10 colleges I've applied to that do likelies, I've only gotten UCLA's Regents invitation.

thanks a lot TarHeel!

:) Does anyone know if they send the likely letters to internationals as well? Any internationals on board who received a letter? :)

^^ BUMP ^^

Can anyone please answer the question in the post above?

Thanks.

WOW congrats guys!

Congrats~ :)

To shruthibaskaran: It is said in a Chinese applicant BBS that 2 girls got the likely letter a week ago.

Btw, does stanford send these by mail or through Email? Anyone who received can tell me?

I think it was by snail mail, from what people have generally said. But I am not sure...
