Okay.. so i sent my resume to TCNJ, Stevens and RPI. I forgot to change school names under the objective section. I kept TCNJ for all three schools and now i am worried that other two schools will get offended. What should i do? Should i ignore it and hope that they dont catch my mistake? Please help me.. Please.. I am really confused and angry!!Thank you.

anyone please?

hmmmm… if RPI or Stevens see the mistake then it’s definitely not going to be good for your chances (maybe outright rejection…sorry).

the only things i can think for you to do, is to either talk to your counselor and check what your options are or contacting the universities and telling them that there is an error on you application, and see what you can do from there.

There’s not much you can do once you’ve submitted it.

“OH NO. This person is considering other colleges? AUTOMATIC REJECTION. HOW DARE HE/SHE?!?!??!?”

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, unless you put something like: “I have always wanted to attend _______ since 4th grade, and it is easily the best school on my list.” That might come off as really insincere if you did that…

I would call and tell them about the mistake and inform them that you did edit the essays for each respective school.

I’m pretty sure this is up there on the list of things not to do during the college application process… not sure what to tell you but I’m pretty sure they will notice that it says TCNJ and not RPI.

“Should i ignore it and hope that they dont catch my mistake?”

They’d never miss that one! Sorry. You probably listed their competition too. Gulp. Although you made the worst error possible, oh well. It happens. I suggest you contact your GC immediately. You’ll probably need to call the schools and apologize profusely. I think the best solution is to ask if you can resubmit the application. To do that, you’ll probably need to create another version of the common app, since I’m sure that computer program wouldn’t allow you to resubmit it. Besides, you want to change those names.

ohh but i did not submit my resume on common app. I sent it with my official transcript and yet i have not applied to RPI/stevens. I already talked to my GC and he said that i should send the resume again. Thank you again. Should i submit my resume on common app when i am applying and also call them. I am so worried:( Thank you.
I can tell u the exact error so i might get more accurate answers ![]()
Objective: To earn _------ engineering degree at the college of New Jersey.

I don’t think that TCNJ typically competes with RPI or Stevens. Perhaps somewhat in engineering, but it isn’t like you wrote “I really want to attend Duke” on top of your UNC application.
