OMG! What can I do?????????????

I got accepted into U Washington Seattle but I just learned that they didn't count my senior year grades in the admissions decisions. Here's my high school transcript.

Freshmen - 1 honors, 2.9 GPA

Sophomore - 1 AP, 2.2 GPA

Junior - 1 AP, 3.6 GPA

Senior 1st semeseter:
AP Psych C+/B
AP Calculus C
AP Computer Science C+/B
Government A/B+
English B/B+
Spanish B

Human Anatomy B

Senior 3rd quarter:
AP Psych B
AP Calculus C
AP Computer Science D+
Government B
English B+
Spanish C
Human Anatomy B

Both cumulative GPA and senior GPA are about the same, a 2.9, but the drop from a 3.6 junior year gpa to a 2.8 GPA (I dunno how to calculuate the exact GPA if someone can figure it out for me...) will definitely kill me! I contacted admissions and they said they didn't review my senior year grades. Does this mean I have to go to community college? My parents are going to kill me. I'm sure I can come up with a few reasons why my grades have dropped so much, partly because of family problems, much heavier courseload, and work. I am hearing from my counselor and friends about these college revocation stories which makes it all seem so common, but I'm hearing from these threads that's it;s really rare. Anyways, am I destined to be rejected? What can I do to improve my chances? Will it even matter if I do well my last quarter? Is community college where I have to go? My parents are going to kill me, but not before I kill myself.

Please, can anyone offer any advice or comments?

don't worry, you are fine, i think. try to pull up the computer science grade.

Are you in-state? How was your SAT/GPA? Enlighten me!

I was in-state, but then changed to Virginia two years ago. Dad's a diplomat btw if that means anything...

GPA was very low the first two years, 2.9 then 2.2 for freshmen and sophomore years respectively. Junior yea rI kicked ass with a 3.6, but that was the time my dad was gone to Iraq. Now that he's back... lots of family problems, stress, and of course with a heavier course load (3 AP's), that didn't help so now I'mb ack down to a 2.85/9.

SAT's were ok... 1930 (690 m, 670 w, 570 v)
Strenghts in my applications were my ec's, with work for an award winning web development company and habitat for humanity in bolivia. basically in my essay i stated that after moving back to the states i've becomre more motivated, which i have, but this senior year has really screwed me over... realistically though, i have a shot of getting my admissions revoked right? is the chance low/high? is it common for seniros to do bad their senior year? is it also common for colleges not to look at senior semester grades until the final senior transcript has been sent?

bump......agsdgdsgdas..

Have you talked to the college? Do you know that they will revoke your admission? You should ask them, not this board...you may be panicking for no reason.

They said that they may or may not re-review my admission, and if they did, it would be unlikely unless my senior gpa was a "significant" drop from my junior year gpa trend. I think a 3.6 to a 2.8/9 gpa is a pretty significant drop, even though my courseload is much heavier. I don't know many or any students that are in my situation so I don't find it improbable that I be one of the very few students under close review since my gpa was very inconsistent throughout my entire high school years, plus my gpa dropped lower than that of anyone else i know...

If it's at your high school average, I doubt they'd go so far as to rescind you.

do u have a legitamate reason? I was sent a letter from my school about my declining grades, so I proved to them that there was a good reason.

family problems, much heavier courseload, and trying to keep up with work. i've also been stressing because we are about to move again to another country... there is no standout reason though besides my father's return. him and i often have screaming matches for hours, and its just so unproductive but i cant do anything about it. i think his absense during my junior year when he went to iraq explains that but i dont officers would be too impressed or even accept my situation, at least in terms of "family" problems..

bump...a......

moving to another country is a big deal. i wouldn't be able to concentrate wel, at least.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. My nephew got in last year- out of state with less than stellar stats and from what I saw on-line many other out of staters did also. He sure didn't have anything near the resume that you have, either. The UW about doubled how many they took out of state last year because they are trying to subsidize the in-state kids. I see now that U Illinois is going to do that also and has people in Illinois all upset about the change there too. The reality is it used to be very difficult to get in out of state but now the tide has turned. They want the $$$. You have legitimate reasons for the grade slide. Let them know. Relax. I bet it will be just fine.

Ok thanks man. I hope you're right!

I think you are fine, the admissions people aren't stupid, and should see that you took more AP's and your grade dropped because of this increased work. I am assuming that you don't have weighted grades? Then a .7 drop with 3 AP's and senioritis isn't that huge of a deal.
