I am not sure if anyone else is in the same situation, but I have NOT received my financial aid yet...this is getting a little ridiculous, it's almost the middle of april and financial aid is a BIG factor in my decision to enroll or not. I am currently deciding between vandy and emory, vanderbilt has mailed my financial aid ALONG with my acceptance days before APRIL 1st.

Does anyone know when emory will be mailing out financial aid packages????

i apologize for my irritation, i just had to get it out of my system....

thanks

I just received mine today. Did you check OPUS? You might be able to find it there. Good luck with your decision!

They already mailed them out...my friend who lives in Florida recieved her package today. However, you should be able to check you aid on OPUS right NOW! Log onto it, then click on "finances", then "view my financial aid" and finally, click on "2007". Aid shalt be listed there. If not, I'd call Emory ASAP. Good Luck!

Anyone else get this message:
"You have no financial aid awards available for viewing in this aid year."
Yikes?

yeah, mine says that I currently have no financial aid package either...

emory is getting on my last nerve

arghhhhhhh!

mine just says "Inquiry access denied" for my financial aid 2007. when i was at emory a few days ago, the aid guy was saying that they were sending them out so hopefully it will all be over soon.

At first OPUS said, "You have no financial aid awards available for viewing in this aid year," then inquiry access was denied, then my award was viewable.

I am in the EXACT same situation, I haven't received it yet AND I called them yesterday and they said it hasn't even been MAILED yet, they will mail it "later this week." ??? Financial aid is basically the deciding factor for me too, so it's kinda *ing me off that I won't get it until mid-April at least. My OPUS still says "You have no financial aid awards for this year" or whatever, but I spoke to 2 different people in the FinAid office and they both said that message does NOT mean I'm not being offered any aid, it just means they haven't posted it yet (?) or something like that...

OPUS is updated regularly when they have made financial aid decisions. I e-mailed my financial aid counselor and received a quick response. It sounds like they are finalizing all offers this week. No need to wait for the mail since OPUS will have this info posted.

i just checked right now after reading this post. my award is up after checking yesterday and seeing the inquiry denied message.

I just checked my financial aid online and there is no way I can afford Emory. So much for my first choice school.

elizabeth2005, what does it say on opus? i mean does it detail your award and the amounts or just notify you that you've received aid?

detail the whole way. it breaks it down for you per semester

I cant take this anymore...I just called and they told me that my financial aid package is NOT completed yet. What is this? This is definitely leaving a negative impression on me.

Unless they give me EXCELLENT financial aid package, I will be seriousy considering attending vanderbilt.

they just finished my package today. financial aid page switched from "inquiry access denied" to a full report of all my aid. i think everyone's should be done within the next few days.

I am speechless...There is not one single good thing that i can say about Emory right now. I've called NUMEROUS times and its the same response: "ur file is currently under review and ur financial aid adviser is working on ur financial aid"...***, how long does it take to get my financial aid...my friends are shocked too at Emory's "delay". There is only one explanation for all this: "they are trying desperatley hard for me to choose other college"....

NO updates, no calls, no nothing...at least they could've called me or emailed me to update on my status....or at least apologize for the PROLONGED delay.

Arrogant college,

Does anyone else share my frustration?

Emory supposedly has great financial aid amethyst but I share your frustration. They are only going to loan me $2,000 a year, meaning my mother the teacher and my father the soldier are supposed to pay $42,000 per year for me to go to Emory. I would have to take out over one hundred thousand dollars in loans to pay for it, and then I'd have to take out more loans for law school, leaving me hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. I called to talk to my financial aid counselor and the receptionist who answered had a real attitude problem when I was actually very nice to her.

I've been doing the exact same thing, calling a lot asking about it, and they've actually been quite rude.....I agree that it seems the only thing they're trying to do is convince me to go somewhere else! They've really been pretty snappy and snide with me! I realize that tons of people are probably calling them and this is the worst time of year for then, but it is their job....PLUS I turned in all my files on time, so how is it fair that they can take their time getting back to me about it?? At this point they're leaving me with less than 3 weeks to decide (by the time it comes it will probably be less than 2!)
And GW is giving me $30,000/yr, which is pretty tempting...
