I was gonna pay my 200 dollar tuition deposit using a credit card, but then I accidently pressed the Back button. Now it says, "We don't know if your deposit went through, please try again tomorrow. But it hasn't let me try to repay it yet.
Should I just send them a check? Or wait and call them on monday. Im scared that If I send a check, it might get lost and ill lose my spot at UF. :(

Dont you have like a month?

Its due by the 16th.

Lansing,
You have eight days to straighten this out, so please don't worry too much about it. Check your account tomorrow, and it may say that everything is okay. If it doesn't, I'd call the Admissions office and ask them what you should do. If you do decide to mail a check, please be sure you mail it with a Return Receipt. It's a light green card in the Post Office that gets mailed back to you confirming that UF has signed for your mail. This way, you have proof that they received it on time.

You can also mail it Priority Mail, which guarantees delivery in 2-3 days. You have to do all this in a Post Office, and both items (Priority Mail + Return Receipt) costs about $8.00. The Priority Mail envelope is a little bit larger than a regular business envelope, and it has a clear front. You can fill out the front of your envelope at home, just as you would if you were putting it in the mailbox. The postal clerk will just slip it into the Priority envelope, and the address will show through the front of it.

Good luck Lansing, and let us know how you made out.

Also, UF honors postmarks = )

ie. you ship it the 15th. as long as the postmark is the 15th your ok. wouldnt risk it tho

Im gonna call them.....why did I have to press the back button.....T_T

does sending in the deposit lock you into going? or does it just mean you lose 200$ if you go somewhere else?

i think youre already locked in by applying early decision, but i do not believe the deposit is a contract for attendance by any legal means.

deposit = deposit. its required if you wanna attend, regardless of admission method.

however, no deposit as ED = "im not attending" = send the lawyers to sue you.

send in the deposit :P

im non-binding ED because im national merit. im not sure whether jan 16 is my deadline or if it is may 1. so i want to send it in jan 16 just to be safe, but i dont want to be absolutely locked in.

ExRunner you may want to check it specifically or wait for someone else's response but from what I know, which is true at other Universities, is if you are in a non-binding situation the deposit can be refunded by May 1 to let the college know you are not planning on attending.

If i were to guess, and this is pure speculation, the deposit is nonrefundable
