test scores- I haven't gotten my SAT scores yet but I have been scoring in the low 1400s on practice tests. (high verbal, not so high math..)

What do you think?

It's hard to say for both of you without SAT/ACT scores since those are so important. You both seem equal but definitely well qualified. Unfortunately, the Vandy applicant pool has increased A LOT over the last 2 years, so even people like you two get denied.

Jessica, your stats are similar to mine. Both will have taken 10 APs by graduating, both took AP Latin (represent!), both did really well in an EC (yours being debate and mine being Latin competitions), and both have low 1400s SAT (except yours don't count).

What school do you go to, if you don't mind answering? I go to Pine View and all my friends always talk about doing well in speech and debate events. I'm just curious if I'd know your school (or vice versa) since I did PFD in 10th grade.

Hilsa:
I go to Trinity Prep but I do Student Congress, not PFD. It's funny you mention Latin Competitions because I just did my first one last weekend (Latin Forum). It was pretty fun. By the way, thanks for your post about PAVE. I'm going to go. I just have one question. Had you already taken calculus when you attended? I'm a little nervous about getting lost in math. I'm taking Precalc-Trig right now. Do you think that's okay?

Haha. I remember Trinity. You guys were good. You were always like top 3 with Nova and some other school.

Latin forums ARE fun. Except I don't take Latin anymore so I can't go. Latin states is so amazing. You'll love it.

You don't need ANY calculus for PAVE. I thought I'd be ahead by taking calculus, but nope. It may have helped once for my chemical engineering class, but that would be it.
