I have a FANTASTIC rec from my english teacher I had for both freshmen and junior year. I went from getting Bs in her class freshmen year to all As junior year and an A on my IB internal assessment. She is like my best friend and she went to Brown, UVA, and UMichgan.

I went through a lot my junior year. Including finding out about an affair my dad had with many many people, which was an issue even after we found out. he got caught 3 more times after. Also, i almost moved midyear, which caused stress and some how we got called by the Department of child services saying i was getting beaten and I wasn't... It was strange, but more stress. Threat that my brother had cancer. more stress...

FANTASTIC rec from my guidance counselor! I love her!! lol.

FOR MY INSANE AMOUNT OF ECs:
The stuff I did for one year, I did cuz i thought i would be interested in it. I wasn't. Please focus on the stuff I've done for multiple years! Except singing. Singing was something I just came out in public with. It was a talent I was scared to share, but now I don't care. :)

Schools:
Yale SCEA
all the other ivies
Emory
Duke
Northwestern
UF
Stanford

Great GPA! Your ACT score isn’t that bad either, but a bit low for some of the schools your looking at. Will you be retaking? You could always try the SAT, your SAT II scores look like they’ll be good.

You do have a lot of ECs. It’d be more helpful if you organized them by type, and maybe even leave out those that you tried and weren’t interested in. You definitely show commitment to those that you did continue.

Yale SCEA: High Reach
all the other ivies: Reaches in the usual varying amounts
Emory: High Match
Duke: Low Reach
Northwestern: Low Reach
UF: In
Stanford: High Reach

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/737246-chances-wellesley-ed-lacs.html</a></p>

WOW 10 classes per semester? Well, I think you’re a competitive candidate for any school however, your ACT is a bit low. SAT Math 2C try and get 800 and for Chemistry try and get 750+. Everyone in my high school who have taken Math 2C have received 800s so remember, you’re going to be competing with 50,000+ students and you have to be at your peak in academics. As for the extra curriculars, I think you’re fine. Just make sure you don’t list all of them in your essay, but instead, be passionate about one. Listing all your activities is useless because they have the damn paper infront of them. :stuck_out_tongue: Passion will trump lists anyday!

thanks  anyone else

great scores and great course load. I think you just need to focus on the essays and you will stand a very decent chance

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736498-ea-mit-caltech-chance-me-ill-return-favor-lvoe-u.html</a></p>

bumppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

wow you’re really loading up on tough courses o_0
standarized test scores are ok. but you’ve got tons of ec’s =) i’d say you have a good chance

what I really dont get from reading all these posts is why people apply to soo many colleges. Is it not possible to focus on one or two so those apps come out great instead of bombarding all these schools with avg-ish applications?

bumpity bump

Yale SCEA: High Reach
all the other ivies: Reaches prolly get in a few
Emory: High Match
Duke: Low Reach
Northwestern: Low Reach
UF: In
Stanford: High Reach

haha loove the title  especially for a guy. way to let your inner girliness shine through! (this is all in a good way btdubs)
anyywho. you have a solid GPA but a somewhat low ACT score? so i think for places like Yale, it might hurt you because you dont jump out as far as stats go. you have a really great rigorous courseload, but your ECs read like a laundry list (it hurt my eyes reading thems… ^^)
but yeah. i think HYPSM are all high reaches for you… the other school are reaches/low reaches. write good essays and you should get into like 80% of those
chance me back if you have time? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736548-chance-me-top-schools-ivies.html</a></p>

If you bring up your ACT score only slightly you can go wherever the hell you want.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/738441-chances.html</a></p>

I agree with everyone else, except for Stanford–have you considered playing water polo or swimming for them? If you are good enough (especially water polo) to be recruited, Stanford will take you automatically. I know one person who Stanford asked for, he still had to apply but he got in with much lower scores/grades than you have.

Maybe you’d score higher on the SAT instead of the ACT?

[Chances pweez?](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/738434-chance-suggest-average-student-ill-chance-back.html)

I mean your grades and course load are obviously fantastic. Im an IB student too and I couldn’t imagine taking 10 classes so that’s incredible.
If I were you I’d try and take the SAT just to see if you could do any better.
And organizing ecs in a resume will probably help you figure out how to group them more coherently

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/737456-chances-yale-upenn-etc-trying-decide-about-ea-ed.html</a></p>

Yale SCEA: big reach.
all the other ivies: Reaches at harvard, princeton, dartmouth. Low reach at penn, dartmouth and brown. high match at cornell.
Emory: Match
Duke: Low Reach
Northwestern: Low Reach/high match
UF: safety.
Stanford: High Reach

And as everybody has said, even getting a 32 on the acts will improve your chances a lot.

chance back?: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/738548-chances-top-state-schools-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Great academics, and wow at the ECs! I don’t think you should list all of those ECs on your app since they wont know what to think and won’t know what you are actually interested in. Raise scores (as other said, try SAT), and those are pretty much all within reach (even though many of 'em are quite unpredictable)! Thats a lot of schools, btw. Hope you narrow em down, or else have
fun
applying. Sorry for the inconsistency of my punctuation - the keys randomly stop working. :D

Low to high reaches. Try the SAT and retake the ACT.

Your profile is almost perfect. Just raise your ACT and write good essays. I’d say you have at least a decent shot at everything on your list.
Chance me please!!!

WOW. Your dad is a BEAST. Tell him to teach you the tricks.

Wow, don’t forget to enjoy life. That’s more important than getting into college. I can’t imagine squeezing a social life into all that.

sgtfuzz, you’d be surprised how easy it is for me to have a social life lol. I’m one of the most outgoing kids in my school surprisingly. I hang out with the, so called, “popular” kids, though I hate that term. I just don’t usually need to study much, but IB is a killer. Since all of my friends are in IB, too, it’s easier. I, also, never study for math. I just love it and it’s a stress reliever for me :). lol
