Omit how many questions?

How many questions do you omit on the SAT? In each section and overall.

I omitted a grand total of one question on the PSAT. (and that was an accident!) My teachers have always drilled it into my head that leaving an answer blank and getting it wrong are the same thing so we might as well go with our best guess even if we're not sure. But I know that's NOT the case of the SAT. It's still sort of force of habit to answer all the questions but I'm trying to adjust for the January SAT. I'm still curious though, how many questions to you normally omit on the SAT?

i think the grading is the same. omit = no points, 1 wrong = 1/4 pt. off. um well i havent taken the sat yet but on the psat, i only omited a math question.

lol if you have 1 or 2 that you don't know, don't guess. but if you have 4 or above then guess.

I also only omitted one question on the PSAT (big mistake)...

You can guess on a total of 3 questions (that you don't know)...here's why: If you guess on three questions and hypothetically get them wrong, you don't loose any raw points, but then, if you guess on 4, and you get them wrong, you lose a point. Something like that...

My plan is just to never omit again...

Huh? I think it goes like this: If you answer 2 wrong, that is minus .5, but that's still rounded up. If you get 3 wrong, it's -.75, so then it's rounded down. So from this logic, it's okay to guess on 2 of them, and if you really want to guess on more to get a higher school, you can keep guessing before you get to the -.75 on the next number.

lol no
on the PSAT
writing section
omit 1 is a 760
and wrong 1 is a 750
IT'S ALL SCALED
so it all counts
