I have a very weak immune system and I'm frequently ill. College was going very well for me until I got sick at the end of the fall semester. I dropped all the classes I could, but I was taking one course at a college with an earlier W deadline than the others. My professor would not cooperate with me and at the last minute I ended up with a C. This is the only course I took at that college and also my only C. I now have a handful of W’s and I really don’t want that C to show up (it’s in my area of study). How much would it hurt me to just omit that grade/transcript on my applications? Would the colleges ever know?

yes they will know when they request your transcripts...
my suggestion is to go to your records office and petition to have the grade changed to a W. I was able to do it for one of my grades and most CC have a petitioning process for extreme cases such as mine at the time.
It is much better than having an offer rescinded because of omitting info on your application.
good luck

Transfer applications ask you to list EVERY college where you have taken courses for credit. If you leave one out, you risk being denied admission if they notice the admission at decision time. You later risk having your admission rescinded if they discover it after acceptance or even after you matriculate.

If you are not successful with luvtoolearn's suggestion, you are better off to honestly list all schools you have attended and use the "Additional Information" to explain (short and sweet, no whining) the situation which led to the C.

I attended a law school for a year before i was academically dismissed. i am now applying to a top school in ca. i basically got the thumbs up to start the grad program from the program director. but i never mentioned about my year in law school on my application. i've heard that financial aid of this school can't see my students loan from law school since it is school specific. and on the national clearing house how will the school know which school to search if i didnt state on my application?

help!!!!

I feel like this question always surfaces every month or two.
