Definitely good chances, but I would have some safeties and backups for sure.

The Ivies will all be reaches for you. If you can get the SAT's up it will help your chances, but right now the picture that your painting is that your SAT's don't match up with your GPA. This can cause a bit of a problem because it looks like you are a big fish in a little pond with an inflated grading system. The others are close to matches, I would also work on finding some more safeties.

Not to be a jerk, but I think it's all going to come down to how much the school wants URMs. Your GPA and rank are great, but your SATs are definitely very low for the schools. I have an URM friend who got into Cornell with low SATs though, so maybe you have a chance too. GL!

^agreed. I think your GPA significantly will improve your application though..as this is more heavily seen in admissions. As north_face says, though, I'm sure a few schools might not go so low on the SAT for a URM. But you're in very good shape with that solid GPA. nice work!

oh yeah, I definately have safeties/ matches but I already got into them! I'm not crazy lol!

and yeah I suck at SATs, I don't know why I did so bad, I should have taken the ACT also.

Those SATs are going to hurt you, but being an URM will help.

I agree with kameronsmith- the sat's will hurt you because it shows a disconnect between your high gpa and the difficulty of your high school

in defense of my school, were one of the top 100 hs in america, the only school to be recognized higher than us in state standaridzed testing is a private magnet in the area (me and only one other students got perfect scores). I guess its hard to prove here, but our school is def not known to have grade inflation or to be easy. I understand the assumption though, thats what low sat high gpa usually means. Already students ranked much lower have been accepted to penn, brown, columbia, and dart. not urm, but i dunno their sats.

but thanks for the opinions, and gl to you guys also

part of the editorial staff of our high school magazine
I have recently been acclaimed as one of the students who has won the greatest number of awards in our school( in an article )
coordinated a research activity in our high school ( it consisted of applying questionnaies, collecting and interpreting data, publishing it + I was the coordinator of the entire group who did this)
my activity as a volunteer implied some sort of research activity ( went to dif. schools, applied questionnaires, collected the data + direct work with the children at a daily center
National Children's Forum ( participated about 5 times)
great recs.
