most will agree that cornell dining halls are better than most out there...

but what about snack bar type stuff...

a hamburger is about $5 at cornells north campus snack bar
a slice of pizza about $3?
a hot sub is like $8 for a whole and $5 for a half...

anyone know the prices of other schools snack bars?

Sounds about the same price as what I pay at the cafeteria at work, only the prices are allegedly subsidized by my employer and the food isn’t as good.

I studied at Oxford. If you want to eat bad , expensive food study at Oxford. Mushy peas. Oh my!*

The Curry houses in Oxford are fantastic, however.

I pay about the same at the cafeteria of the school where I work (the price is the same with my employee discount) and the food is terrible. They recently contracted with a new vendor, but the food still can’t compare to Cornell.

btw i just remembered how awesome the pasta is at RPCC!!

i remember eating this awesome pork pasta in pink sauce OM NOM NOM!

too bad that they dont crowd control at the dining halls…

The food is great. The prices are about average.

I would pay $20 for another dijon burger. And I would pay that on a regular basis.

Want to hire me as your personal chef. I’m smelling a business opportunity. I’ll even include the curly fries with honey mustard for free.

The day that I discovered the dijon burger was a very happy one…

I have actually received some very good training in the culinary arts, but the dijon burger from that one specific grill they have is like no other. And sadly, $20 wont include the obligatory nap on the slope after.

is the dijon burger in ivy room?

I mostly eat at macs or terrace in statler, or mattins when I’m short on time(I’m an engineer).

Atrium cafe and hughes are also excellent though I don’t go their too often, same for ivy room. I want to try moosewoods at anabel tayler but I never remember to go during lunch time.

yes, at the grill. Do seek out then report back.

the a la carte stuff from the cooling cases at Trillium, Libe Cafe, Tatkon, etc. I got tired of very quickly during freshman year. I don’t usually eat anything except a sandwich if I’m in a huge rush. I don’t eat meat, at least not at these meals, so my options are somewhat limited. I think the prices are pretty normal compared to the few other institutions I have experience with.

Because you have a bunch of alums salivating over your subsequent report.

Moosewood at Anabel Taylor.

^This

Also, try a vegetarian wrap at terrace(the wrap station is basically a build your own burrito that they call a wrap station, ask for beans, rice, potatoes, and whatever veggies you want, should be good). Guacamole is extra but might be able to substitute it for the meat. Or the salad bar also at terrace. Or tortellini at macs with either Alfredo or marinara or both depending on what you prefer.

the food cooked to order at the a la cart places is generally vastly superior to the freshtake in the cooling cases, though there are a couple pretty decent sandwiches in the cooling cases, such as ham turkey or Sicilian sub, and the potstickers are pretty decent too. The sushi isn’t bad either, though its much better at macs since they get it from I believe plum tree, though it might be some other place, instead of the standard freshtake fair.

yes, I think Fresh take was specifically what I don’t like. thanks a lot for the suggestions though because although I have been aware of those places I’ve never actually bothered to visit them. now I will be motivated to check them out.

I loathe non-meat eaters as much as the next guy, but I do love Moosewood. A lot. From Amazon, type in “Moosewood” and you’ll see this is not just an Ithaca thing.

so the sushi at macs is apparently from miyaki not plum tree
