When are rooms/roomate available to be selected for on-campus housing?

Is there a “priority” process in this? If so, how does it work?

Priority Sign-Up Times
Students who are eligible to return to UCLA Housing for the 2007-2008 academic year and who submitted a housing application along with the $30 fee by the January 31st deadline, will receive their Priority Sign-Up Time and Access Code on February 27, 2007.

Sign-Up Dates
The Room Sign-Up online process will be available on March 6, 7, 8 and 9 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on March 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Description of Process
After you log onto the Room Sign-Up Process, you will have 20 minutes to complete your room selection. You will also have the option of selecting a roommate(s) during your sign-up period [...]

hah its like signing up for classes

the good "classes" i.e. sunset village and deneve will go first, and the bad ones like hitch will be last.

thanks for the link!

so i don't have a roommate in mind and am probably just going to go random.
i was wondering... does the "roommate is my highest priority" mean, i want this specific person (for those who select roommates), or does it mean, i'd rather have a roommate that the questionnaire deems compatible with me over having the room i select?
basically i'm wondering... would ucla put me in a room i DONT want just to put me with someone compatible, or should i select "room type" so i get the room i want, but might get a roommate that has nothing to do with the questionnaire?
siiigh sorry if that was confusing. but i'm pretty confused myself xD

if you're a continuing student, you pick the room yourself so its not 100% "random".

the whatever building or room type or roommate preference/priority has absolutely no bearing on room sign ups for continuing students. whether or not you get someone matching your preferences depends solely on you or the other person selecting the room. if you select a room and you dont have a roommate, ANYONE (obviously of the same sex) can choose to be your roommate. whether they match your prefs or not. likewise, you can opt to pick a partially filled room with someone who matches or doesnt match your preferences.

im sure people usually try to match their preferences, unless they want a certain floor or building and thats the only room left or something like that....then its very possible the roommate they pick is completely opposite of their preferences (which is what happened to me this year :( ).

i see... thanks for the answer!
i'm still nervous about the whole i-don't-have-a-roomie thing.
hmm...
any first year girls in the same boat? xD

me~ I was supposed to live in an apartment next year but eh, decided against it. >w< Yays for attempting to find someone who's just as random as me and won't go insane with my asianess? D: xD

apartment? as a sophomore? or are you older lol...
i'm plenty random xD
not asian, but i make some mean origami ^_^

if you dont have a roommate in mind that way you are almost guaranteed whatever type of room you want unless your enrollment time is awful. also, you can pick your roommate (or vice versa) b/c solme people will occupy rooms and you can view their profiles/facebook them!

ooh sweet!
wait... you can see the NAMES of ppl already in a room? you sure?
seems too good to be true lol.

yeah, you can see their name and their roommate preferences.

i was totally facebook stalking potential roommates last year. :p the one i ended up picking didnt have a facebook but i found him on myspace...

schweet ;0

grrrr i was supposed to get priority priority signup or something.

from what?

wait... so how does this work? Isn't priority random? Or is it base on class standing (or other criteria i.e. if you are in honors, athelete... etc..)?

How does it work if you want a single?

from working with ucla dining services.

DONT LOOK FOR ME IM NOT IN THE DINING HALLS

should be random...singles/doubles/triples..doesn't matter

Then what's the whole "anyone that can choose the be your roomate" scenario when you really want a single?

....?

if you want a single, then you just sign up for a single room. there's no roommate scenario....
