On-Campus Housing vs Off-Campus Housing

So I was looking at the Davis area, and the apartments are pretty cheap when you share. But, is it true that UC Davis will take away some grant money if I choose to live off campus? They are currently offering me 6800 with me having selected on-campus housing on the FAFSA. But, I'm not sure whether they'll decrease it if I choose off-campus.

the cost of attendance is higher for on-campus vs off-campus. So you will lose some grant money (it depends on you EFC). However even if the less grants, living off-campus will most likely still be more affordable.living in the dorms is expensive.

UC Davis offer university owned off-campus apartments for people not eligible to live in residence halls (24 and over). Some of them are considered off-campus and you will still get less financial aid.

You should not take that risk pal cause the grant money might end up being insufficient

Idk, well, I just changed it to off-campus housing a couple days ago, and it has been processed on the FAFSA. So, How do I check whether it decreased or not, for UC Davis?

I logged into the financial aid thing for Davis, but it still shows the same amount for the grant. Does that mean it didn’t decrease and I’ll be getting the same money while off-campus? or does that mean it hasn’t been updated on the UC Davis financial aid page?

EDIT: It says awards last updated on the 4/14/2014
