On-campus housing

I'm applying for housing. I would like to have a single, which would probably mean a balcony-style hall, but I take it that singles fill up pretty quick. Does anyone have any thoughts on halls I should pick for my 3 preferences? Also does anyone have a preference between Northside and Southside? Is one better than the other?

You’re just now applying for housing? If you are, you’d be lucky to get a room. You’ll probably end up in Walton or Hart.

Do most people accept housing by this time?

Well it kinda sucks coz I only got accepted 3 weeks ago, and had to wait until now to receive my admissions packet. But do Walton and Hart suck and how long does it usually take to receive a space offer?

Last year I applied for housing in November and got my second choice, so the outlook isn’t good. I thought I read somewhere that they don’t even offer singles on campus (except maybe handicap).

I live in Walton right now. I applied the first week of March, and apparently my friend applied the 2nd week of February and still got Walton. Walton is pretty bad in my opinion, being the cheapest dorm along with Hart. Walton is in the North side and the group that lives here are like an upperclassmen cult. Hart is in the middle of the campus and is a little better. It’s coed too, so that’s a plus. You’ll find out your spaces in July though.

nox - They do offer singles on campus. It’s just that the current students on campus or those who have gotten in early all request them, and they are very limited.

Thanks Xcellerator. So would you recommend changing my preferences to Hart and/or Walton or just leave them as they are since they’ll offer me the only spaces available? My preferences are 1st FHK, 2nd Schumacher, 3rd Moses.

Just go for what you have listed. You never know, you might get lucky. Those dorms are all on Northside, which is a little rowdier and funner I guess. :)
