On campus interview -- help!!!

I just found out that I have to skip at least half a day of school in order to go to Pomona for a "highly recommended" on campus interview. Currently I am taking 6 AP classes, and there's at least a test or a quiz everyone day. I'd really hate to do make up tests for skipping school to sneak off to Pomona. I have to say that I did not anticipate this admissions requirement with Pomona until just a few days ago as there's not a single college (not that I know of) that impose such requirement as part of their admissions process (you can't do off campus interview if you are in California). I am now facing the dilemma of applying to Pomona with a possibly lower GPA for my mid term report, or simply skipping Pomona altogether.

I would really really appreciate some advices here. I want to go to Pomona. But they are making the admissions process a little harder for students in California, in my opinion.

Look at it this way. We’re not even from California and we flew over for a visit (really a second visit since we also visited during junior year) and an on campus interview, although we could probably have stayed home and done an alumni interview. Pomona is D’s top choice so we felt that the visit and on campus interview were very important. All other factors being equal, which applicant looks more dedicated to Pomona? The local one who won’t take a half day off school, or the one who goes to extra effort and planning to be there? For my D’s sake, I certainly hope it’s the latter.

Message received. If you can’t skip school, don’t apply Pomona.

…just reschedule the interview for a less hectic day

It’s the second semester. They are not going to care about a minuscule grade drop from one measly day of missed classes. And it will only help your chances of getting into the college in the first place. Do the interview.
