On-campus interview with Cornell AAP - What to expect?

I'm having an interview on Campus for admission into Cornell's School of Art, Architecture and Planning

UNDER FINE ARTS

Can anyone who interviews/has been interviewed give me pointers on how to dress/what to prepare for/ general tips?

I'm bringing my portfolio, mostly all original and have a good explanation for my artwork and my concept behind it

I'm also bringing my art resume

What should I prepare for? How long is it? Is it with the whole faculty or what?

As you can tell, I'm helpless... SO HELP

have fun with it. take it as a chance for you to find out more about the school, indulge in your passions, and show off your work. you will probably be meeting with one art professor.

semi-formal wear should be fine. good luck!

anyone else? i heard u have to talk about art history and that scares me

noone has any advice?

depends on the professor. think of it as a conversation. ENJOY it!

Okay - it's with one professor, and the time slot given is an hour. Usually, they take about 45 min. They make you fill out a sheet with your SAT scores, GPA, some general info, and give you a couple of sheets with last year's BFA curriculum, degree requirements, etc.

There are some questions on the sheet too - the professor I was with filled it out as he interviewed me. Stuff about what opportunities in art you've undertaken, how well-read you are about art history (you don't need to know too much), and things you've done in school relating to art. I might be a bit off here. It's generally just to check that you don't live under a rock and don't know anything. At the very end, there's a little scale asking the professor to rate your portfolio on a scale from 1-5.

I'm from Toronto. My interviewer had been there several times and we talked a bit about where I did my life drawing pieces.

Then, you walk through all your artwork and give an explanation of the concept and/or describe the technique you used. After that, you'll be asked if you have any questions (ask some!). If the interview went well, you might be given a tour around. :D That's a guess, but the interviewee before me didn't get a tour; I did, and I got in ED.

Have fun and enjoy Cornell! I didn't get to see much of the campus when I went (only stayed for a night) but you should take a couple of days and explore. Don't stress too much. It's pretty laid back. :)

Hope I see you this fall.

uh oh...i stink at art history! :(
