hey i signed up online for an on-campus interview at yale next week.
the website made it seem like it was a pretty informal interview, with a student (?) but i was wondering if anyone had had an on-campus interview before and what it was like? does it replace the alumni interview? is it formal or informal (dress wise / should i bring my resume and everything)? well any info would be great, thanks!

I had an on-campus interview with a Yale senior for about 40 minutes in the admissions office. She was extremly friendly and said that she wasn't even going to ask me any questions, she just wanted me to talk with her about anything!!! After talking about all my activites, interests, etc. for a while, she wanted to know what I did with my friends in my free time. The only thing that caught me off gaurd was that she asked what I would do if I became president (only after I mentioned my interests in politics). I dressed semi-formal, no tie but belt, dress shoes etc. Also, do NOT bring any materials with you!!!! This includes resume, test scores, transcript, etc. The director of undergraduate admissions at Yale directly stated that interviewers will not accept those materials when she spoke at my school. Finally, if there are enough alumni in your area you may be contacted for another interview, however, Yale says that if you had an on campus one that it is completely your choice if you want to do another. I hope this helps!!

I had an on-campus interview as well. It's very low stress. I dressed semi-formal also: slacks and a nice blouse. My interviewer was really friendly, and, shall we say, easy on the eyes. :) Basically, he just said "tell me about yourself" and the conversation went on normally from there. It was great.

Yea I had a nice on campus interview experience. It lasted about 45 minutes, very low key, and I felt I was really able to convey everything I wanted during that time period.

haha..."easy on the eyes." - shoulda gotten his #...you know, for any yale questions that might have come up...

i'll admit it - i fell in love with yale when i visited and met the cuutest intl students i've ever seen.

My D's interviewer on campus took her resume and told her it would be added to her file.
