Hey everybody, I was searching the site for a while and couldn't find too much on on- campus interviews. Considering I just had one earlier today, I figured I'd post my experience to help anybody else that's nervous about their on- campus interview. For starters, from what I saw, it seems like there are only two people that administer general interviews and they are both early/ late twenty women who both seem very nice (I could be totally wrong about them being the only two). The interview itself was very laid- back. It started with the interviewer introducing herself and insisting on meeting my father whom I told to wait outside. We then walked up to her office and we began the interview. Although I don't remember all of the questions, there were really no questions that caught me off guard. The questions I remember are "Why CMU? Why are you interested in your intended school/ major? What is your greatest achievement? Elaborate on (extracurricular activity). How would your teachers describe you? How would your friends describe you?" We talked a lot in between the questions and she made sure there was never an awkward moment. We seemed to get along pretty well and she was a very nice lady. If anybody has any other questions about the interview, just ask! I hope this helps.

I can vouch for there being more adcoms that interview. I was interviewed by a 20’s-30’s man, and I have two friends that were interviewed by two more guys.

I think all adcoms interview, you just may have only seen those two.

Yeah, I got interviewed by a woman in her 20’s but I saw that there were at least 6-7 others interviewing.

I just got a confirmation in the mail for an interview, and it says you need to bring your transcript and SAT scores? Does anyone know how heavily they weigh this during the interview? It would be kind of awkward to just sit there while the adcom just looks through your record…

Well, I brought both of those things and it wasn’t really awkward at all. The interviewer just kind of took them and put them off to the side, only occasionally glancing over at them.

Mine didn’t even ask for mine. I had to write down my ACT/SAT scores but she didn’t ask for my transcript.

Whew, my transcript isn’t that great. Anyway, my interview is tomorrow, I suppose I’ll bring both just in case…

NuclearTide how did your interview go?
