On campus job

I am very very close to landing a job on campus this summer, in particular, working at the front desk of the dorms and helping people with their questions//if they lock themselves out, etc. just out of curiosity, those of you who have done this, did you meet a lot of people this way? did you like this sort of job?

i love my on-campus job selling textbooks sooooo much–hopefully i can do it for the rest of my life haha

i get paid to like…stand around, do homework, do a crossword puzzle, chat with my coworkers (who are all students like me), read a trashy magazine, etc. it’s fabulous.

Was it easy for you to lend an on-campus job for the summer? I’m an international and have no intention of flying home each summer. On-campus job sounds the best…

^^

Will Vassar let you rent out a campus apartment or dorm for the summer? I know this is possible at my school (Haverford College) as long as you enter a short-term lease and pay rent on time throughout the summer.

I think most schools are willing to work things out with internationals for summer lodging, anecdotally, I know mine does.

Vassar offers residency over the summer for a small amount of students, primaliry internationals. I was just hoping to work at the school as well, as opposed to catering or something like that (which I’m horrible at).

Working on campus is so much fun! I’ve met so many different faculty members, students I wouldn’t have interacted with before, community members, alums…I would completely recommend it.
