On Campus Parking

My son just registered for his parking permit so I thought this might be helpful for incoming freshmen to navigate. We were not sure which lot to choose. Registration opened in April and closes July 6. After that, there is someone you can contact for registration.
To register for your permit, go here: https://transport2.tamu.edu/account/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/account/

My son’s first choice on dorm is Mosher LLC, so he will be on the south side. Get familiar where your potential dorm may be in choosing your lot/garage. This page was helpful. http://transport.tamu.edu/Parking/faqpermit/res.aspx#housing

We used this map to locate each lot/garage. http://transportmaps.tamu.edu/parkingmap/.

When you register, you can choose up to 6 places to park and you put them in order of preference,
However, you cannot choose Southside Garage (SSG) AND Northside Garage (NSG) or Lot 30 AND lot 40. You can choose SSG and WSG (west side garage) or NSG and WSG. So, you get to choose North OR South side lots/garage and then all other choices are West side or remote.

Email receipts go to the studentsTAMU edu email address (don’t forget to also set up your students gmail address and you can link them together http://google.tamu.edu/). There is a space to have the parking permit receipt emailed to another address, like a parent’s.

Also don’t forget to inquire with your auto insurance carrier to see if rates will go down for your student during their time at A&M. We live in Harris County (where premiums are highest in the state of Texas) and by using the on-campus garage address for my son’s vehicle, it saved us just over $500 per year.
