Michigan is my obvious first choice school. I was wondering if anyone knew whether they prefer On Campus auditions as opposed to Unified auditions. I heard that about 12 of Michigan’s c/o 2012 audtioned at Unifieds, but then on the website they say they strongly encourage On Campus auditions. I have about 10 audition BFA schools on my lsit and it looks like only 2 (besides Michigan are at Unifieds w/ a dance audition.) It would be nice to be able to save the money and audition in Chicago, but I don’t want it to hurt my chances. Any suggestions/advice/things to think about? Please let me know!

knarfy - I think Michigan had a class of about 16? If 12 auditioned at Unifieds then I think that gives you some assurance that they are looking for the best talent no matter where they see it. I can really appreciate the $$$ of auditions having done it with my D the past year. On the other hand, if UM is your #1 you might want to visit that one. My D loved the campus but I know another school at the top of her list after visiting she didn't care if she was accepted or not. And after that she was more open to other colleges knowing she had eliminated that one. Best luck to you and hope you have a really fun audition season.

This year's entering MT class is actually bigger than 16 - but if you look at past threads (search on the UM threads with the word "Unifieds") you will see that there are a good number of students accepted each year who auditioned at the Unifieds.

As far as the numbers accepted, this was posted recently on the "Repertoire List" thread by actormcfamous:

"This year's freshman class has 23 (there's also one transfer student who takes some classes with us but will graduate with MT11) and all the other classes have 20. I believe they made offers to 24 or 25 for this year's freshman class."
