Part of the financial aid included an on campus job. However I do not want to work 8-10 hrs a week as I will probably need that time to study and do other things.

Would they let me drop it? Since it's only like about an estimated 2k a semester, I can pay for it. I would really rather have that time to myself.

But is the rest of the financial aid package conditional on the work study job, meaning if I decide not to do the work study job, will they take back all the financial aid they gave me?

You can choose whether or not to accept the work study job. If you decide not to do it, then you’ll just have to come up with that $2k yourself.

My financial aid also included a work study job. I got an email saying that I was assigned to a job but I’m interested in working elsewhere on campus. Am I bound to the job that I was assigned to or can I ignore that assignment and try to work somewhere else? The email told me to contact a certain person who is my supervisor.

You can try to get a job elsewhere, but you should make your current “supervisor” aware of your plans.

i’m on the fence about a campus job myself…
i heard that some jobs allow you to do your hmw? like library desk assistant or w/e

Yes - there are jobs (classification AA) that are sitting positions where you’re expected to be there and help people as needed, but will have some time to do your homework. Examples are the people who swipe your card to get into the dining halls, library desk assistants, people that check your bag when you leave lewis, etc. Most of the jobs that freshmen are assigned are working in the dining halls, but if you want a different job, you just have to find and apply for it.
