On exchange: SDSU or CSULB?

Hi all,

Currently I'm a Dutch international student, studying Psychology in Australia. Next year I have the opportunity to go on exchange for a semester to the USA.

After narrowing down heaps of universities I have to choose between San Diego State University and California State University Long Beach. I've looked around on the internet trying to get more information about these unis, hoping it would help with my decision. I'm really indecisive and hope you guys could give me some advice :)

Which university do you reckon would be a 'better fit' for me being an international student? I just wanna experience the American college life, and do some traveling on the weekends. I'll be following 2 to 3 psyche courses and about 1 or 2 random courses. I won't be having a car so good public transport would be a plus. I also won't be knowing anyone so social friendly ;co-students' would be nice too. Also, I don't really know a lot about San Diego or Long Beach/LA so any advise/information about the cities is helpful as well!

Cheers! :)

Anyone?? :)

its tough there both good schools, hmm go with san diego its a very nice city. idk though i couldn’t see anything wrong with either choice. both are in areas with great tourist attractions to enjoy.

Both colleges are a hard choice to choose from. I actually wouldn’t mind getting into either because they both have a great scenery. For a psychology major in San Diego, they offer a joint doctoral program after receiving your bachelor degree.

As for CSULB they offer a MA/MS program after receiving your BA in psychology. Although, if you plan on getting your PH.D then you should transfer to a different graduate school as Long Beach only offers a MA/MS degree.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the joint program for SDSU is only for a PH.D in CLINICAL Psychology.

Thanks guys! Think I’ll go with SDSU as my first pref. :)

No problem and good luck!
