Hi
My son has been admitted to NE for this coming fall sem, with some merit scholarship. Given his stellar grades in the first-sem of his final year, we would like to explore any additional merit aid possible. How do we go about this? Should he contact the univ, or should I as the parent?
thanks

Either is fine, they just want matriculation and what’s best for their budget. I would wait until a few things happen:
- You have all options on the table if possible.
- You can safely say that if they were to offer X much more, you would be committing. If a college gets such an offer and they deem it sincere, this can sometimes work.
This is unlikely to work in my opinion, but it can’t hurt to try.
Thanks PengsPhils.
Our state schools (CA) admits/rejects come early Mar.
Would it be too late to wait till then, to check on this with NE ?

I think early March would work. Lots of kids won’t hear from schools until April 1. April is when the “fun” parent/child money conversations happen.
