On her way....

My daughter has arrived on campus at her first official visit! We had an early wake-up call at 4:15am and an hour drive to the airport, but she should be enjoying lunch with the coaches right about now. She was so excited last night, she got very little sleep. She seemed fine this morning and even managed to get some of her schoolwork done on the plane, but I am a wreck. I don't do sleep depravation well, will have to squeeze in an afternoon nap in today!

We’re wishing her luck, fishymom! Keep us posted!!!

Very exciting… I hope she has a productive and fun visit~

Good luck! Send news! Fingers crossed for her :-)

Thanks, I really appreciate the well wishes! This is her number 1 school and we are praying for a one and done deal. She has three more official visits lined up, just in case, but no tickets will be purchased until next week. So my fingers are crossed things go well for her!

I’m afraid I won’t have much news from her until Sunday, she was given instructed to put her phone away after she called me to let me know she had landed safely. Depending on how late she is out tonight, I might get a text when she is going to bed, but I’m not counting on it! Tomorrow is early morning practice, breakfast with coaches, meeting with head coach, game day rituals and football game against in State rival and ensuing celebrations. I’m really not expecting to hear too much from her until she gets to the airport Sunday morning. But I will update if I hear anything!

sounds like fun! My daughter would text me at times like during practice, when they weren’t allowed to participate so they’d all just be sitting there watching the team. Hope it goes well! I have a good feeling for her!

fishymom: So exciting! It sounds like she has a wonderful schedule of events set for the weekend (the game will be really great!), and how great to have your first OV be at your first choice school too! My fingers are crossed for you that you are indeed “one and done”.

Definitely try to get a nap in - I fear I won’t sleep well until this whole process is behind us…!

My daughter is off on her 4th OV right now - they have been back-to-back, every weekend…Every visit has been so valuable, but she will be exhausted tomorrow night I think! Happily, she has next weekend off, before flying cross country for her 5th and final OV. We are ALL looking forward to a final decision/choice being made…!

Good luck with the visit, and I too have a very good feeling about it - I think your daughter will be all set after this weekend - awesome!!

Good luck to you and DD with “one and done” (also known as the parent cardiac-saving device).

How grueling to have to wait until Sunday morning for all the details! Hopefully your D will sneak a chat to you tonight or Saturday pm!

Good Luck!! I hope she will be back with great news!!!

I think you have an accidental but accurate spelling error in your first post, fishy mom:

sleep depravation may be a new medical diagnosis describing the insanity caused by parental lack of sleep and the stress of the athletic recruiting process

Best wishes to your daughter, and high hopes for a one-and-done speedy closure and purchase of college sweatshirts and bumperstickers!

^Nice catch, rr.

River, we should add that one to urban dictionary!

^^^definitely!! Sleep is the best escape from this roller coaster, but the curse is that you can’t get it!!

that is so funny…
I kept waking up, praying for peace, and then trying to get sleep…knowing our kiddo is away …and doing God only knows what, while staying at a frat on an OV…

Am definitely feeling a little of the “recruiting” insanity right now…

staying AT a frat! LOLOLOL! Yeah, that’s funny  Is the visit over tomorrow?

well, it can’t get more ‘college’ than that! Do you think this will be the school of choice?

My daughter is home and had a great time! Not too much partying, was in bed by 10:00pm both nights. She was housed off campus with the team captain and several other more studious athletes, which she was happy about. They had a lot of fun at the game and did a bit of celebrating afterwards, but then went home and watched a movie.

Happily, the school remains at the top of her list. She loved the school and felt the team dynamics were just what she is looking for. The coach seemed to know the girls really well, as people not just athletes. My daughter talked to several different girls and they all said that they were able to keep up with their classwork with demanding majors, do their sport and still have time for fun. Sounds good to me! She has several more visits scheduled, so we will see what happens in the next few weeks.j

Great news! That sounds ideal, doesn’t it? My daughter would love to have a visit like that to a school…maybe soon !!
