On housing contract waiting list

I was recently accepted to UT, and I didn't know that I was supposed to apply for housing when I put in my application. I put in my housing app around the 15th of this month, and found out today that I'm on the waiting list for a housing contract. Seeing as how DHFS doesn't want to give me anymore information than that, I guess I'm forced to ask you guys. What are my chances of getting a contract now? Am I pretty much screwed on getting on campus housing? If I need to look elsewhere for housing, does anyone have some suggestions? Thanks for any information provided.

Are you a freshman? If you are a transfer student, I think you have no chance.

If you are a freshman, I am surprised they did not offer you a contract for supplemental housing (a room in a lounge until an actual dorm room opens up). I do not know what your chances are of getting a room. I think that people who applied around this time in past years were still getting supplemental housing contracts, but I might be wrong.

(Dobie and Castilian are perfectly reasonable options if you can’t get a room on campus.)

you probably will not get a room, start looking off-campus.

yea, I’m a transfer student. thx for the help

I talked to housing a couple of weeks ago about the waitlist thing… They said in years past that they have been able to get everyone on the waitlist into a dorm. But you probably won’t know for sure until a week or two before school starts…

yea you should line up an apartment just incase you cant get a dorm, just dont schedule the lease signing for the apartment until its closer for school 2 start

i actually emailed them and this is the exact response I got.

“Our records indicate that you are on the waitlist for a contract offer. Please continue to check your emails for updates. Contracts are offered in the order that a student has applied for housing. Please give the process more time to take place.”

I’ll try emailing again and asking where on the list i am, and hopefully I wont incur their wrath :P

Jeptha when they say you were on the waitlist
because mine still says contract is active

ummm, I’m not entirely sure what you’re asking me, Jaysen…

I’m going to infer that you’re asking me when they told me I was on the waitlist. I received that email this morning.

yeah thanks Jeptha
i was wondering when you go to ut status check do you see
application still active after you click on the housing status

yea, it still says active.

thanks Jeptha

How about the students that are still not accepted yet, but sent in a housing application early? I still have yet to be accepted since I ddidn’t send them my updated transcript with 30 units… So are my chances of getting housing zero since jeptha, you, got accepted and you’re on waitlist for housing??

anyoneeeEE???

i believe, and someone correct me if im wrong, that as long as you applied for housing earlier in the year (like a month ago at the latest…?) you’re good to go. Jeptha didn’t apply for housing until now, unlike you. hope that helped!

Pay attention to UT Housing, not me! If everyone on the waitlist got a room last year, you will probably get one this year.

Are the off campus housing like Castilian and Towers usually full by now?

Will it be a little late if I apply in the middle of the summer? Like July?

lol, wow. I think they’re ignoring me. I had a feeling that last email contained an impatient, irritated undertone :P

I don’t know about Towers, but Castilian is not usually full this early; you should be able to get in there if you want to.
