On-line College Calculus class

My D took BC Calc last year and 'only' scored a 3 on it and AB subscore. She needed a 4 or 5 for credit where she will attend in the fall. Her planned major (Animal Science) requires a year of calc and a professer already suggested she take it over the summer because the intro class is a huge and quite hard.

Does anyone have any experience with on-line courses that would give her the credits she needs? Given some trips she has planned this summer, the local community college may not fit her schedule.

I found this old thread, but it wasn't very helpful:

Whether or not your daughter chooses to take an online class, I think the bigger issue is where does her college’s Calc I stop (in terms of topics covered), and where does Calc II begin. Although traditionally, Calc I covers Differential Calculus and Calc II covers Integral Calculus, different programs cover different topics in each course. If your daughter is going to ‘re-take’ Calc I, she needs to make sure that it covers pretty much the same topics so that she will be well-prepared to take Calc II.

She actually only needs one semester, so the content isn’t important! The pre-vet advisor explained to her the only reason it’s there is that a few vet schools have it as a pre-req. I suggested she register for the AB AP test this spring and study a bit harder than last year and that suggestion was laughed at.

[BYU Independent Study - Online Courses](http://ce.byu.edu/is/site/courses/description.cfm?subject=IS_MATHEMATICS&course=orion_10052586)

This class may fit your bill if all you need is one semester of calculus. The author of the textbook is one that I’ve heard of. Covers derivatives and integrals. But if she needs a year of calculus, she may need to continue on.

The course looks pretty involved with 3 midterms and a final. Cost is more than your CC. And you’ll have to find proctors to take the tests.

There is a class that is called Introduction to Calculus which isn’t so comprehensive.
