So, I was pulled off the Caltech waitlist and now I'm hearing things about placement exams, in math, physics, chemistry, and english.

Well first, I'm wondering, approximately what level the exams are...so that I don't get surprised.

Also, I've received an email regarding the Math exam; I was given a link and username/password. Is this to be taken online? The instructions make it seem like it should be written down on the exam book, which I haven't received in the mail.

I also received an email about the Chemistry exam, revising previous instructions which I haven't gotten. I haven't gotten this in the mail either; is there a due date?

...and I haven't heard anything about physics or english, although according to the Caltech website, they exist. So...help, anyone? What's going on with these tests?

The English/Writing was this last weekend. It was due on Monday morning - but don't worry - you'll be able take the writing diagnostic test during orientation. The Chem due date is July 16. The chem test came in the mail. You'll get the Physics and the advanced placement math test websites when you receive your admissions packet which should be soon. The due dates aren't until July. I believe the Calculus diagnostic test is one you download and mail in (though I could be wrong about that). There are lots of other due dates in the admissions booklet that should come in the mail: housing contract due, health form completed by your doctor, student information forms(if you're interested in theater, etc.) and lots of other stuff. Due dates on the extra stuff are in August.

How recently did you get accepted? Congratz, though. Once you get your student information packet, you'll be able to figure most of it out. As for the difficulty, I'm not sure yet, I haven't taken them yet, but I'd imagine they'll be something like AP tests, just a bit more in depth.
