On the application, why can't I check my ethnicity?

<p>In application part one, section one, I said I was a canadian citizen and was born in a place in china (try to find me in 1.3billion people stalkers!) but I can't put an ethnicity. This is annoying me a little. Is there something wrong?</p>

<p>I can only put an ethnicity if I say I am a US citizen. Is this to prevent bias by ethnicity? Because it doesn't make sense to allow people to put their ethnicity if they are citizens.</p>

<p>Colleges are only required to report ethnicity of domestic students (citizens and permanent residents of the United States). All other students are reported as "international" and not otherwise distinguished in reporting to the federal government. </p>
