On the website it says it takes 12-15 weeks for them to decide on admission, I sent in my application in late January, and 12-15 weeks would mean late April/May, which is when other colleges require you to make a decision.

Does anyone know anything about Michigan and if they will send out decisions before that time? Because I'm don't want to wait until the last day nor do I want to decide and then receive something from Michigan.

Thank you.

all decisions are out by april 15

My S applied mid Nov. ; app Complete end of Nov. After I made 2 calls in Feb and Mar as to the status, they changed their minds and said it was completed early Dec. I am an alum. At this point, I think my S will write off UM. I cant help but feel disappointed at UM stretching out notifications til mid April. (BTW, almost all schools say they've had a record # of applicants....yet they manage to put out decisions by April 1st...just saying)

Decisions are continue to come out in batches. I've heard of some people getting decisions in the last couple weeks. April 15 is the latest batch probably.

i can't help but feel extremely disappointed with michigan's way of handling things.

seriously! i think they need to change the system or something, since its driving us all nuts like this.

Would you prefer that they adopt an EA/RD scheme instead of rolling?

Thank you all for the responses.

@GoBlue81, they can't roll on until May, that's just way too long.

I don't think you should take the 12-15 weeks literally. I've seen decisions made under 3 weeks. In any case, the last batch of decisions will probably come out no later than April 15.

GoBlue81: With all due respect, how many weeks do you think Nov 15 through (possibly) April 15th is???? Still not a word. If they are going to reject....then they should do so quickly....so we can MOVE ON.

Don't take me wrong. I'm not defending their practice. I'd rather see Michigan go to a EA/RD or a priority/RD practice like UIUC. With rolling admission, Michigan seems to have some reservation handing out "deferred" decisions.

Michigan did institute an EA this year. We just missed the deadlines in a big way. By the way, the 12-15 weeks does not include holidays and spring break, so tack that on too. #1 son applied by mid October two years ago, heard by mid December. #2 son applied December 5, 2007, and we still have not heard.
