On track for top law schools?

Hello all!

I am an incoming sophomore at a top 20 school, and am trying to kind of sort out my future, so to say. I came out of freshman year with a 3.94 GPA and am planning on double majoring in Int'l Studies and Chinese. I just have a few questions as to be honest, I'm completely clueless about law school admissions-

1) Law school admissions are pretty much just test scores and GPA, right? How important is extracurriculars etc? I plan on being very involved with my sorority and certain international groups around campus, and am spending this summer in China. Not sure about the future, but we'll see.

2) What sort of GPA should you aim for for a top law school, like what range?

3) Any other advice?

Thanks!

Your ECs sound like they’ll be fine. As high a GPA as possible. 3.8 is a nice aim for HYS or Berkeley. Elsewhere, a high enough LSAT can compensate for anything, but anything below 3.4 might make it very hard.

LSAT is crucial. No predictions are possible until you have an LSAT in hand – and an actual LSAT, not a practice, not a projection, not a goal. Even one or two points can really change things a lot.
