On waitlist, how do I handle deposit issue?

<p>Am I allowed to decline my acceptance after I paid my deposit if I get off the waitlist to another school?</p>

<p>Yes. You have to submit at a school before May 1st. But if you get into another school, you can “unaccept” at the first school but you lose the deposit. Here’s a good answer:</p>

<p>You cannot, however, double deposit (send a deposit to two schools at the same time). If you do and either school finds out about it, they may rescind your admission.</p>

Sure. You can decide you want to travel, changed mind about college, anything. However you lose the deposit, and the college will probably not look kindly on you should you reapply in the future.</p>
