How competitive is the admission process. I am on the east-coast and have a 3.84 weighed and an 1770 composite. Also, I have a ton of extracriculars and international community service. Im in the top quarter of my class as well. Do I stand a chance?

You definitely have a chance, but I’d suggest an sat retake to increase your chances. I just found out two students in my high school class taking the full IB Diploma got waitlisted, which is absolutely nuts considering they took the most rigorous courseload available at my school, and had good gpa’s, test scores, etc. On the flip side, I know some people (in state) with rather low gpa’s and test scores who also got in, who were far less qualified applicants than these two.

This experience supports some other stories I’ve heard about UW admissions being really finicky, so do as much to make yourself a better applicant as you can. I’d say right now, you’ve got an average chance, but take tough courses senior year so they see you’re not slacking off, and try to bump the sat up closer to 2000 (almost everyone increases their score the first time they retake). Hopefully your extracurriculars help you out, because there are far more people with high stats and no activities than there are with slightly lower stats and tons of activities. This should give you a bit of an edge.

Last point: send in the application ASAP. Admissions are rolling, so the earlier you send it in, the better chance you have of getting in. This is true for almost all schools with rolling admissions.
