On Wisconsin...

Ok. Im an average student. I have a 3.84 weighed and a 1770 is my best composite. I have a ton of international community service under my belt and founded several clubs at my school. Also, My Dad is an Alum. Do you think I stand a chance of getting in?

The chart at this website gives you as much information as you can get:
<a href="http://www.admissions.wisc.edu/images/UW_FreshmanExpectations.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.admissions.wisc.edu/images/UW_FreshmanExpectations.pdf</a>
You have to use your unweighted GPA.
It doesn't look like your chances are very good.

How much does alum matter and i have a 3.6

I'm guessing you are a junior right now? I think being a legacy does help some, but I don't know exactly how much. I think your chance is okay atm, but I would recommend you take the SAT again or the ACT and try to get it around 1900 maybe. I had a 3.58 GPA and 1950 SAT and got in this year, so I would just recommend you get your test scores up at least 100 points and right some excellent essays.

Thank You very much

It would be akin to having the best of all the 3.6 GPAs out there but not as good as having a 3.7. It helps a little bit but not all that much. Better to raise your SAT to over 1900 which should be doable by taking a class and working hard at it. And do well the next two semesters. Take APs etc.
