He did Ducky.

@Ducky101, yes I did. I am confused as well why they would accept me and defer mwatts, but they did…

Also, I don’t think everyone who got accepted during the Early Notification round had like a 30+ ACT or 2000+ SAT score. It’s just collegeconfidential!

IGotFiveOnIt, you are right.
I have SAT 1910(M 800), 3.8GPA and I got in! Differently, I am an international student whose first language is not English.

I agree with IGotFiveOnIt…most of the people on college confidential have very high stats but many people get in with lower numbers but those students aren’t on here…when you check the stats of admitted students you can see that many people have what some would consider very low scores but we do not know the other circumstances that made the admission team accept them. Another thing is we don’t have any idea about anyones essay…just because some put up big scores doesn’t mean their essay was that great…just saying that there are many reasons for getting accepted/deferred other than test scores. My scores are not as high as most on college confidential, never played sports and only have a couple of EC’s but I have many other factors that a college would consider. I have worked since I was 14 since I come from a lower middle class family and I also have Asperger’s Syndrome. Considering I have Asperger’s, my stats would look very impressive to admissions but not when stats alone are posted on college confidential. Everyone that got deferred has excellent scores and will probably get in during regular admission…we just don’t always know the story behind the stats…

Yeah GT doesn’t look just at SAT scores. On the College Board’s website, a “Very Important” admission factor is academic GPA, the rest are “Important” admission factors which include application essay, extracurricular activities, rigor of secondary school record, volunteer work, work experience, and standardized test scores. I guess for me, they looked past the crappy ACT score since I had (at least I think) a good essay and good ECs.

Thanks for the replies…No I am not a ■■■■■. lol.
Someone asked if I was in or OOS. I am in state.
My essay wasn’t short or bad. In fact I thought it was pretty solid, not that that means anything.

GPBurdell, you said call my admissions officer? Are you referring to the GT Admissions officer? That’s an interesting proposition. I don’t really wanna be the guy who calls because “the must have made a mistake or something.” Smugness, lol. But you do bring up an interesting point. Could you, or anyone, elaborate more on that idea?

I got in w/ PSP possibilities; I feel like it’s a bit of a fluke, what with all the great people on here. :)

Anyway, I’m an incoming Bio major.

GPA: 4.0 UW (I’m not sure what it was once Tech recalculated it.)
ACT: 32
SAT: 2190 (As of yesterday; I applied w/ a 2210.); 770CR (690 on application); 650M; 770W
6 APs (All my school offers.)
Decent ECs; Mine are more quality than quantity (A few club officer positions, a few published articles, lots of writing ECs.)
Essay: What I think was my saving grace. I’ve been writing since as long as I could hold a pencil, and my essay was, I think, different enough to make me stand out.

I’m an instate female w/ a faint affiliation (Grandpa was a research prof several years ago but passed away when I was little, so there isn’t much present pull.), all of which I think helped. Still a bit surprised though. Anyway, good luck to all who were deferred/applying RD!

Are the December PSP announcements only for those who applied between 10/1 and 11/1?

“Semi-finalists for the President’s Scholarship Program will continue to be named through December 16. If you applied for early notification and have not yet been named a semi-finalist, that does not mean that you will no longer be considered for the President’s Scholarship Program. All semi-finalists will be named by December 16, and all students who applied by November 1 will continue to be considered. If you do have updated test scores, we encourage you to submit them from the testing agency as your file will be updated with that information.”

So, if you do not get the scholarship, you will not know by Dec 16th whether you got accepted?

The info above is only for PSP semifinalist only. Most students won’t get nominated by PSP programs since there will only be 250 additional spots.

There will another round decision for Nov 1 applicants on December 16. More than likely, another 56% of applicants (roughly 2900 applicants who applied between October 2 and November 1) will be accepted on that date.

Son was accepted … Really wants to go.
