once you get into a specific school at columbia, would it be fairly easy to switch?

If I apply to Fu Engineering this year, and hopefully if I get accepted, then would it be possible for me to transfer to the College in like a semester or two?

I ask because I am really interested right now in majoring in Biomedical Engineering. But I also want to do premed and I've heard scary things about being premed with a BME major and how it's used to "weed" ppl out. So basically yeah, if I discover that BME just isn't for me, how possible/viable/probable would it be for me to switch in to Columbia College as say a neuroscience or biology major?

i don't think it's really that super-easy. i think it's probably easier than transferring from another college, but i don't really think it's that easy. some people who want to switch from seas to cc or vice versa sometimes to the combined degree 5 year program but that doesn't really seem like what you'd be going for if you wanted to do premed. i do know that you can do a bme major in seas and still do premed. i'm pretty sure that one of my friends is doing just that.

I'm not sure that it would be easy. Those of us in the College are required to take Lit Hum and Uni Writing first semester. You can't take both of those things and all of the SEAS requirements at the same time (unless you have a death wish), and it would be awkward to have to make them up later if you were in the College trying to finish your Global/Civ/Language Core and complete pre-med requirements.

Theoretically it's possible, but I don't think it would be any easier than just doing BME w/ Pre-Med. Pretty scary.

There are plenty of threads on this on the board. Do a search, there are plenty of opinions on the matter.
