Go to the following link --> National Commission for Cooperative Education

This organization (NCCE) awards thirty $30,000 scholarships ($6000 a year for 5 years) to Drexel incoming freshmen each year if you participate in the co-op program. The application deadline is in Feb. This might be the easiest scholarship you ever apply to and one of the better chances you have. I don't believe there's a large amount of incoming freshmen that actually apply for it just because nobody knows about it.

Its all merit based and I don't believe it has anything to do with financial aid. I know a girl who got this scholarship before she came to Drexel. She already had a big scholarship from drexel but NCCE would just dump thousands of dollars into her account every quarter.

Also if you have time, take a look around the site, it has some great content about the benefits of going to a college with a co-op program.

I got an email about this from Drexel and applied. But the email said it was due by December 15th even though the website says February. But I really have no clue which is true. I got it in on December 15th, but I really don't know. Good luck everyone!

darn, they should put GT on there too.

If I got this, it'd put me at a little more than half tuition per year.

That's interesting that Drexel e-mailed you and told you the deadline was December 15th. Are you sure its the same scholarship? If that is true, I'm sure you'd still be able to apply to it up onto the due date on the official website.

FYI: if you go to Drexel's grant/scholarship website:
Drexel Financial Aid - Scholarships and Grants

You can see all the grants and scholarships that Drexel sponsors. There will probably be several that apply to you. Just some examples: everyone is eligible for the alumni-trustee grant and early FAFSA grant. If you are or were formerly in the military you can receive a $5000 Veteran's Award. If your parent or grandparent went to Drexel you can receive $3000 a year and if a sybling is currently attending Drexel you can receive another $3000 a year.

It's definitely the same scholarship. I really don't know why I got the email but I know they also said that your application for Drexel had to be submitted by January 10th (didn't matter for me, but anyways).
Drexel is definitely good with scholarships though. I got a higher Dean's Scholarship (about 17000) and was talking to one of my friends at Drexel and complaining a bit (just because I could). In any case, a couple days later, I got an email from someone I know at the university (yes, I have some connections; I did a summer program) who said she was trying to put together a full scholarship for me. So I really don't know. Good luck to everyone.

can you apply if you're already enrolled at Drexel? I'm currently on co-op here...

no. read the website smart one

*** is your problem

Zackdudde: You've given some good info on here, but as cutiepie911 asks: ***is your problem? This is the second time you have been sarcastic/nasty to people on here. If you can't refrain from this, you should stop posting on Drexel's thread. You're making Drexel look bad when you do this, "dudde."

i just spoke to sonssecty on PM and i am sorry if i offended anyone by saying "smart one" and i was not meaning to be nasty (i'll think about editing it if it really makes you happy). bottom line is i already clearly mentioned in the first post that it was for incoming freshmen, and therefore since the question was asked again, I did not feel like repeating myself. i'll try to refrain from "sarcastic" posts in the future since it seems a couple people don't have the same sarcastic "its no big deal" college attitude as me.

I talked to Mary...(forgot her last name) who is the contact between DU and NCCE.
She told me that DU has already received 1500 application on Jan12 and she "can't imagine the number of applicants" by the Feb15 DL.
Also, DU will consider ur other scholarships when they consider ur NCCE scholarship.
too bad.

Did anyone have trouble applying to the NCCE online? For some reason, when my son typed in information, it came up blank. But, if you moved the cursor over the letters, they'd appear (momentarily). Weird, but not sure if it was our computer?
Thanks!

to jolynne
the same thing on my app.
but on mine, most items appear normally but anything written in "if still waiting for other schools pls write here" and "where did u heard about NCCE, other" can only be seen when chosen them using the cursor.
probably it happened cuz' of some error on the ncce website.
the webpage is quite old and i have to use the compatibility view to get rid of some wstrange lines in the blanks.

I ended up printing out the app for son & he sent in the paper version.

Thanks for the heads up re: this!

Does anyone know when this scholarship annouces the winners? I'm dying to know.

Well, the due date was February 15th, so I would guess it would take time after that.

Thanks, but I figured that. It's just that most scholarships like this give the applicants an aproximate date of when they will notify finalist. So I was just curious if anyone who my have gotten this last year knew. But I guess surprises make it more rewarding when you win. :)

The deadline was extended until March 14th-- for Kettering U. only.

So, my guess is the applicants won't be hearing for a while.
