ONE 5 star 5 subject notebook for ALL classes?

The one subject notebooks are pretty thin, I usually just use four of those, it's not hard to put all four in a backpack and a couple textbooks if need be although usually its only two at a time. I like to have all my subjects get their own small notebook so I can easily move from one to another and have everything in one small thing. The notebooks are cheap too, like less than a dollar. I doubt the 5 subject is more than a few bucks. Considering the amount you're paying on textbooks, housing, and tuition, thats nothing.

Anybody consider writing on looseleaf paper or plain unlined printer paper throughout the day, and then filing the daily notes in 3-ring binders when you get home? That way you don't have to carry notes you aren't using.

I've tried lkf725, it didn't work for me. I ended up with loose papers everywhere :/

That's what I do :) - I love 5 star because of the plastic cover.. it doesn't rip off. In high school I used 1 subject notebooks for my classes (the 5 star ones are thicker than the little 70pg cheap ones), and I started to do the same thing in college, but I'd always have about half a notebook leftover. The 5 subject ones have just enough paper to last me the entire quarter, with at maximum 5 pages of spill over.. (and I attend every lecture).

I've also tried it, lkf725, and for me it does work well. That way, I can just take a clipboard and a pencil/pen, and I'm set for all my classes that day. But you've got to be diligent about both putting the date on your papers so that they don't get out of order and putting all your notes in one place after class.

Are you talking about those kind of notebooks with zippers? Or with notebook paper and a few folders?

Who cares just buy whatever you think will work fine for you. There's no perfect solution here. Just go with what will be the best for you and your classes.

I use Wilson Jones Active Use binders (1") -- looseleaf ensures everything stays in order, I can rearrange things, and I don't lose handouts. Unlike your standard cheapie binders, those things with the hard plastic are unbreakable. I've been using the same ones for two years now. I start with all subjects in one, but it usually takes two or three by the end of the term. Once I start using two, classes on the same day share a binder for convenience. (I've totally got a system, but it's been three years now and I should!)

OMG. I feel so worried now. I bought a 3 sub notebook but it was in WIDE RULE. Should I return and get COLLEGE RULED instead???

Just about everything turned in should be typed, so notebook paper is just for notes... the rule of your paper is a personal choice. I personally need to have smaller ruled paper, but if you have wide rule and it's fine with you, just keep it.

As for multiple notebooks or one giant one, I've done both. I prefer individual notebooks, as it helps me stay organized. Another thing I've done is sharing notebooks by daily schedule. For example- if you have history and psychology on MWF and biology and math on TR, have two notebooks, one for each daily schedule.

dude just use a freakin laptop and get microsoft ONENOTE....you can never run out

kc_lady, that's an excellent method. I'm gonna try that out :)

i get single subjects since its easier for organization, and easier to carry only the notebooks i need. i personally hate multiple subjects, i usually ended up using them for one class in hs and they filled up by the end of the year.
