I know I should be thinking positive but preparing for the worst is always my thing. I'm not feeling super confident about the AP environmental exam. I had the worst teacher ever so I've been studying for weeks but I just can't shake the feeling that I won't pass the exam. I still don't know that much. In the event that I don't, will one bad AP score keep me out of UNC Chapel Hill? That's really my biggest concern.

Colleges generally do not care about AP scores. As long as you have a good grade in the class you should be fine. An AP can honestly only help you.

You don’t need to even report that score on your application. They will never even know if you took the exam or not.

AP scores are just used for college credit, not admissions into the college (unless you want to). If you did bad in the class it would be a problem but a bad score won’t do anything

You are not required to put them on the application. In fact, if you have a lot, there may not be space for the score anyway.

Also my friend barely opened her textbook and got a 4. You’re fine.

Not really, and even if you get a bad score you can still try to re-take the exam your junior year. Though I really wouldn’t worry much about doing poorly on the AP Env. Sci. exam. Our teacher (FYI, tarheel97 and I are taking APES with the same teacher) gave me a practice MC exam yesterday, and I manage to correctly answer 81% of the questions, which would put me at a 5 if I performed the same on the FR portion. And I don’t even have an A in this class.
