One bad class...

Guys I am an average student with average SAT scores.

My top choice right now is Penn State, so you can see I am not aiming at Ivies like alot of people on this site.

I am also looking into:
FSU
Auburn
Hofstra
NC State
Northeastern

I have gotten A's and B's throughout high school but this year I really messed up in physics honors. I got a C 1st semester and possibly a D 2nd semester. I thought physics would be easy but the teacher can't speak english and dosen't teach well at all.

My main question is, I am majoring in business so I am not going to be taking a physics class in college. How much is this one bad class going to hurt me and will colleges know that I am still a good student (only taken honors and AP academic classes throughout all of HS and got A's and B's in them.) So basically how much is one bad class going to hurt my chances of acceptance to the above listed schools?

The schools count all the grades you count, but if you've been taking mostly honors, then one or two bad grades won't hurt you that much.

Post your actual grades here, by semester (and very importantly, list which ones are honors courses, AP courses or IB courses) and we can give you better odds of acceptance at these schools. Also list your ECs and, if you have any, your SAT/ACT scores so far.

I dont think that the OP is asking for odds, s/he is just asking if one bad grade will ruin the chances.

No, one bad grade won't kill you, especially based on the schools you're applying to. I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck!

Thanks, and yes I am not asking for chances just if one bad grade will kill me.

So a D this semester won't hurt me to badly?
