One Bad Class

There is one core class I’ve always been bad at, which is killing my GPA. I’ll be applying to colleges ranked 50-100. Do you think they might realize that it’s affecting my GPA, and slightly over look the GPA, cause one class?

How bad is it compared to your other classes?

4 A's 3 B's and a D. I've always had a 3.5+ easily with out that one class. And I take my share of honors and AP courses.

D is hard to overlook. but it depends a bit on the class....because there may be things to do to make up for it!!

Well the class I'm struggling in, I'll be taking AP in that core subject next year. And I plan on attending a local university over the summer, to help prepare me for it. Will that help?

What subject is it? Taking the AP shows that you're being persistent and not avoiding your weaknesses. You should have your guidance counselor mention that in the recommendation.

As for the grade, it might be somewhat overlooked if it's not related to your major, but it really depends on the school and how they interpret it. I doubt, however, that it can be completely ignored. A D is not "good," no matter how you look at it.

It's math, and I plan on taking stat next year. I honestly really like math, I'm really into the stock market and love to play with numbers. But for some reason I just don't do well on Math test. This year, I got a tutor, and my math teacher realizes that I really try. I plan on taking a stat course over the summer, so I get a good understanding of it before I go into it. Should I get my math teacher to write me a reccomendation for college? Cause she really likes me, and knows that I really do try. In missouri we also take this thing called MAP, which is standerized testing in core subjects. I scored in the top 5% for math. Could I some how get my counselor to show it to the colleges in some kind of way?

Thanks
